Anyone received their refreshed Model S?

It sounds like the cars that were ordered before the announcement of the refresh but hadn't been built yet are getting at least a partial update and the ones ordered closer to the announcement are getting more of the refresh features. It may have to do with where they were with leftover stock around the time of the refresh. They may have run out of old noses before they ran out of old AP hardware, so there are some cars built with the new nose and old AP hardware. This may also be why they haven't announced the new AP hardware yet despite it showing up on the 2016 Tesla schematics.

I ordered after the April refresh and I hope I get the new AP hardware, but if only one thing was updated between ordering and production, I would want the 100 KWh battery. To me that's more valuable than AP 2.0 hardware. I don't think they will come out with the 100 KWh battery in time for my car to be produced though.

I was visiting my local Tesla store today and chatted with one of the sales staff about this exact subject. It was his understanding that there is no partial updates re: the refresh. All refresh builds will be getting all refresh features. He wasn't aware of AP hardware changes but but didn't rule it out.

There is a lot left in 2016 and the schematic also had the old camera setup below. If the new ones have the wiring in place, that alone makes the swap much less laborious.

@Tslagrl1 tnx for the pictures

@RamshakleZ sounds to me like calling your DS would be a viable option. I'd just love to have a clear idea on when the car will be available, all other things considered perks atm. The mail send clearly depicts only changes to the looks on the outside but my DS did confirm the center console as additional to the order would be dealt with - it's included - but for instance the new finish on the dash and armrests would remain as ordered in the old model. Which seems consistent with the mail stating the outside only (although I'd recon the new frunk comes with the new nose :))

But will you get rear cup-holders, that is the real question.....

This can't be true. Doesn't make sense for tesla to do a partial refresh.

Tesla is continuously rolling out features and changes. Look at this refresh - first it was wheels. Then the center console. Then the front end and headlights. Soon we'll see tail lights. Ventilated seats and 100kwh battery at some point.

It's not like boom, refresh! There's a continual flow of changes always coming. It just happens that the front end and headlight changes are highly visible.

I agree with @eclipxe. What looks like a "refresh" is in reality just a few cosmetic changes introduced at the same time, in this instance a new front bumper and headlights and a small modification to the rear diffuser, plus painted lower body trim. Tesla frequently makes changes to their cars; most are invisible to the customer, some are subtle but noticeable, some are obvious. But it is a constant process.

I just don't think tesla is going to do a new auto pilot hardware after the new refresh right away. Hell It may already have it we just don't see it. I mean some of the equipment is behind the new bumper now. I am not saying tesla doesn't change but to say they're going to refresh the model s with old auto pilot hardware and a few weeks later add new auto pilot hardware is unlikely in my opinion.

I agree. They are saving it until it's ready or as a sales bump in the future or both. No benefit to tesla to release all at once.

Tesla makes small changes all the time. The console showed up in February, the default wheels changed in March and the refresh a month later, all with little or no fanfare from Tesla. The refresh did warrant a press release, but not the usual fanfare major changes get.

I give it a few months at most. Tesla prides itself on AP yet it's behind in the hardware dept. Then again, what do I know. I've been saying 2.0 hardware is imminent since the end of 2015.

Surprises are around the corner. When I took delivery of my MS P85+ on September 30, 2014, I had no idea AutoPilot hardware existed. Yet it was installed on the car with no announcement. The last week of September 2014 was when they began installing AP hardware on all MS vehicles. As a result, I have a rare P85+ with AutoPilot. The + was discontinued two weeks later when Tesla announced the D. There may be some other rare models coming up soon!

Here are some photos from 5/8/16 at Buena Park. Notice the new frunk size, X like plain hood underneath and the wide air grille.

The product specialists mentioned that all California Model S would all be shipped from the factory with the license plate fixture stuck on as shown. The reason they gave was that the vehicle was tested with the license plate, so it ships with it attached.
