I thought the tweet storm made sense. I participated and it was quite fun. Perhaps I have a sick sense of fun.

I worked in tech (hardware & software) back in the day and was very involved in prioritizing improvements. Its not the easiest task to please as many customers as possible, push the product forward, and fix as many bugs as possible at the same time. To throw into the mix some things are really easy to add and others are really hard, so you have to weigh the effort vs. gain in there. At one company I helped build the process to decide these issues.

You want to get input from as many sources as possible. Those who take time to post here are not always the same that will tweet or talk to you in person. Also it helps when more than one person is listening. Some people focus on the knit picky details, others maintain lists, and others look at the big picture. As a company, you need to try to figure out what really makes the most sense. Sometimes you may have a squeaky wheel complaining about something 99% of the people don't really care about.

Since Elon helps make the decision in what makes the cut, I think him spending a couple of hours asking for input is a great idea. He can go into the meeting with those who read these forums and have other inputs armed with ideas and thoughts.

Lots of people who don't have the ability to implement an idea, or the means to buy a product can still have good ideas, so why not ask? Twitter is cheap.
ok, I agree that some people have good ideas - but why not implement the ideas of the many owners that have been living with just this car for years. I'd imagine they have an overwhelming amount of ideas that could be implemented. Skins, some sort of app support, being able to open the windows again with a fob press, real time charge status/usage at superchargers, the ability to get into the car and turn it on without the headlights coming on(maybe that changed?), turning off nag warnings like the TPMS sensors(with a non tpms'd set of wheels on) or trip warnings ...there are really lots of things. It would be nice to hear some features or additions they are planning to include or working on so ideas wouldn't be beaten to death or have some sort of list of what has been proposed for changes that people could vote on maybe on TM's web page or on the 17" touchscreen.
maybe a survey about how people feel about the changes in 7

It seems inevitable that Tesla drivers will one day be able to see and communicate with other Tesla drivers in the vicinity. What if every Tesla showed up as a little red icon on the NAV screen (assuming the owner has his visibility turned on). And let's say you touch the icon and up comes the model of Tesla, and the owner, and anything else the owner wants you to know (cell phone, twitter, whatever). You could then give shout-outs either through the car's UI or separately from your phone. This could create a really fun Tesla community and impromptu get-togethers etc. In the 1970s, CB radio operators formed just such a subculture. It resulted in that song "Convoy" by C.W. McCall. Cheesy? Maybe. But again, it seems inevitable to me.

Can someone please tweet these?:

1. Range of settings for interior lights to stay on after entering the vehicle 15/30/45/60 seconds
2. Do not turn on interior lights and extend handles whenever you put the car into Park, but only when you press "P" a second time
3. Manual timer for smart preconditioning in case you are away from your home/work locations
4. Permanent display of the current suspension height in the instrument cluster
5. Option to not load album art when scrolling any list of music. Anything more than a couple hundred items causes horrible stuttering/freezing and it just gets worse the more in the list.
6. Camper Mode made official
7. Add "play all under" option much like is found when you make it into an artist folder. So when browsing by folder, and you make it one layer down, give option to play everything in the directory tree and below. This would be especially useful to everyone who has music organized by directory (genre --> artist --> album).
8. Fix the ID3 tags not reading properly when playing through folder selection, add year to Now Playing info
9. Ability to append playlist of genres/artists/albums together and either play in order or shuffle the group. For example, play pop rock, then add techno, turn shuffle on, then the player randomizes that ‘new’ playlist consisting of both genres or multiple selected Artists/Albums, etc.
10. Shuffle turn-off resumes at next song in album instead of next song by alphabetical title. For example, I'm playing genre soundtracks and “Battle of Endor” comes up from Return of the Jedi. I turn shuffle off and the next track is “The Emperor's Throne Room” track because that is what is next on the album. Hit shuffle back on, and I get a new shuffled soundtrack on next track advance.
11. Buttons on now playing interface for "insert artist" and "insert album" into a shuffled playlist. For example, Fiona Apple's “Criminal” comes on and I want to hear more from that artist without re-selecting music and fiddling with the screen too much, so I hit “insert artist” button and the media player grabs a random song from the same artist that was set to play later on in the shuffled playlist and moves it to the head of the line for the next track. Same functionality for "insert album", another song from the album plays next (preferably the next track number). Here is the kicker, multiple presses results in multiple changes. I press it six times, the next six songs are Fiona apple or the next six songs are from that album in track order.
12. Ability to rename USB device labels from generic USB 1-8 – I understand it would be unwise to write data to USB storage, so the car would either have to read the VOLUME label from the USB stick and use that info OR allow the user to associate the volume label with a label of their own for the media player to display. Much easier to just read the volume label from the file system.
13. More granular control over equalizer. Five band by 4 channel or 10 band by 2 channel parametric equalizer built in, along with, wait for it... Savable presets that could be customized by the user and selected at will (useful for audiobooks too). Even just 10 band equalizer instead of the current 3-band would be an improvement and then have maybe no more than 5 pre-sets or custom profiles.
14. Bookmarks that save timestamp in the track, more so useful when listening to audio books. Also useful for audio books, real-time timestamp display when holding marker in seek bar.
15. Info button on now playing screen that brings up bitrate, file details, encoder info, file type
16. Recently added playlist shortcut with customizable window of time. For example, if it is set to 30 days, the playlist generates and plays everything added to that media in last 30 days.
17. Additional playlist generation to organize a playlist selection by least often played / most often played, in addition to new addition suggestion above. This way you wouldn’t have to favorite each song you like, but on the programming end, you’d have to have a Play Count variable.
18. Enable option for right steering wheel scroll wheel to scroll song list on center screen as well as scroll voice-dial results (and select).
19. Interior temp listed somewhere on the displays so as to better tweak HVAC
20. Nerd oriented diagnostic screen where cool vehicle telemetries can be seen, such as, coolant temp, radiator fan RPM’s, individual TPMS for tire pressure and heat, motor(s) RPM, High-voltage battery temp/volts/amps, and anything else you guys would think is a cool number or reading to list. I know this is available to technicians; we want ready-only access too.
21. GPS enabled side-view mirrors so they automatically retract when I am pulling into the garage. Could also be linked to Homelink button press so that when I open my garage door, the mirrors retract. Better yet, automatically open garage door and retract mirrors based on GPS location of me pulling into driveway. It would have to be an option because it might not be useful for every single user.
22. Option to auto-close windows and sunroof when receiving a phone call or making a phone call.
23. Macro button to close all windows and sunroof with one touchscreen button/shortcut. Same for opening windows/sunroof all at once. Similar to driver profile, where I move the windows/sunroof to a position of my choosing, and then save that state so I can press a button to return them to it later.
24. Total center screen off ability beyond the screen-clean setting. Especially useful for night-driving.
25. Touch-screen button to turn on dome light in rear hatch for kids.
26. Auto-closing sun-roof when rain sensor for wipers is triggered.
27. Auto retract steering wheel when entering and exiting car.
28. A programmable button to lower all the windows to a certain height and open the sun roof. Call it "maximum decompression".
29. Macro builder to link a set of settings or actions to a button for easy access.
30. Home mode (based on GPS and/or WiFi and plugged in status) that optionally prevents doors from automatically locking, so it's always unlocked in your garage.
31. Precondition HVAC based on calendar events away from current location. Turn on max HVAC when approaching car after being away for a set period of time (via the app) and interior temp is outside of comfortable range. Make this more aggressive when plugged in.
32. Active noise cancellation/volume leveling based on exterior noise
33. Recording of front and rear cameras to SD card to replace dashcam functionality, option to work while parked and saved footage when car alarm is triggered.
34. Improved navigation
35. Upgradable GPU/CPU for center console processor much like 4G upgrade
36. Apple Carplay / Android Auto support.
37. Suspension that automatically adjusts based on what the camera sees on the road ahead.
38. Soundcloud app, and keep flac support, gifs.
39. Netflix when supercharging
40. Activate Valet mode from Tesla App
41. Waze support for either built in map or as a separate top app
42. Fob ability to close all windows and roof once locked / also feature available on app
43. Better driver profiles. Recognize the driver from which key fob is used. Remember things like HVAC and radio settings, or even give each driver their own radio favorites. Allow specific drivers to be forced to slower speeds/acceleration/etc.
44. A web UI to control the same features that the phone app can. Or just an official API so others can do this.
45. An easy way to leave HVAC on if I get out of the car. If I'm leaving passengers in there while I get out, it should be possible to make it stay on.
46. Remembering locations where I've folded in the mirrors, the same way the air suspension works.
47. Option to let internet connection act as mobile hotspot (yes, even if we have to pay for it)
48. Open up APIs / Release SDK

I care about what they implement next, and I couldn't even bring myself to read all of those. A few of the ones I looked at aren't even technically possible without hardware updates (like 37, where the response time of the suspension is too slow for such a thing, or recognition of driver profile by key given the car can't tell the difference between them).

I'd be happy with addressing customer comments on the IC layout, and finally giving the Media app some attention.

+1.

I know this to be true since I've been contacted directly by e-mail and telephone in response to an issue I raised in TMC. And I know it's because I show my VIN; confirmed when I asked how they tracked me down. A basic tenet I've used throughout my long business career when defining product roadmaps is "voice of the customer". I've even heard Elon espouse the same mantra, asking for and listening to constructive criticism. My VIN is still visible in every post because I am a customer and I welcome such interaction with the mothership.
