Has anyone in the SF Bay Area got mobile service to perform the upgrade? My mobile service was canceled and they scheduled me to a very far away service center (Seaside). Of course when I asked them to change the service location, they simply sent me an invoice for approval... Canceled that appointment and tried to schedule another one at a nearby service center but it keeps defaulting to mobile service.
 
Each time I scheduled camera upgrade, the app defaulted to mobile.

The day before🤦‍♂️that scheduled mobile service occurred, Tesla reached out and cancelled/rescheduled to next available appt at service center.

Their claim was: this wasn’t something mobile service could accomplish - which others here have clearly contradicted.

Perhaps they’re training technicians at various service centers?

Or mobile tech have a separate parts inventory?

Or certain car configs are more complex (software)? Mine took 2 days to complete (the 2nd time) so I presume there’s some complexity involved in particular instances.

Negative. My initial appointment was a mobile service visit, and they cancelled on me 1 hour past their ETA saying only the service centers could do it. I pointed out the website saying that mobile service could do the job and asked if something had changed, and the guy on the phone simply replied "yeah" without elaborating further.

FWIW, I've had to reschedule my service center visit twice now, because they can't seem to order the right parts. I have a constant back and forth with them about what's correct, and they keep trying to order outdated or wrong parts. I'm in Vallejo and am using the service center in town.

They called me to schedule to a service center and was able to pick the Santa Clara one. Might have to call into their support line or maybe make a new service request and use the other field instead.

I'm not going to opt back into the FSD Beta until the cameras are actually upgraded. Once new cameras are in, I'm planning to opt back in Wednesday or Thursday before the next FSD roll out to quickly accumulate hundred miles at night for 100 score. Hoping this plan will work.

I’m in Pleasanton and had the camera upgrade done by mobile service. No fsd invite yet. Though 40.30.8 is downloading right now.

Interesting. I spoke to two different SCs and both said it cannot be done by mobile service.

Next appointment is scheduled for a month out.
They just don't want to. Rocklin (Sacramento area) SC is doing mobile.
I wonder if the issue is technician training. Perhaps only certain SCs have been authorized by Tesla to do this or only certain ones have a tech who has been trained on this repair. We have 3 SCs in our area, but the app would only allow me to view appointments at one SC for the camera upgrade. It also did not provide the option to select Mobile Service.

Yes, probably camera alignment is paramount and only those mobile service teams who has these skills can perform this. I once had mobile service switch out my main tripple cam via mobile service as there was lot of dust inside and I told them I'm comfortable to activate AP with so much dust in the main cam. This was more than 2 years ago

The main cam has no way to physically align it, it’s a fixed mount.

I simply swapped mine out without much of a care of where it was since the holes only lined up one way. Works perfectly.

The process is very easy and the parts aren’t difficult to remove and install at all. Struggle with some SCs is a bit confusing.
