The next big milestone for FSD is 11. It is a significant upgrade and fundamental changes to several parts of the FSD stack including totally new way to train the perception NN.

From AI day and Lex Fridman interview we have a good sense of what might be included.

- Object permanence both temporal and spatial
- Moving from “bag of points” to objects in NN
- Creating a 3D vector representation of the environment all in NN
- Planner optimization using NN / Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS)
- Change from processed images to “photon count” / raw image
- Change from single image perception to surround video
- Merging of city, highway and parking lot stacks a.k.a. Single Stack

Lex Fridman Interview of Elon. Starting with FSD related topics.

Here is a detailed explanation of Beta 11 in "layman's language" by James Douma, interview done after Lex Podcast.

Here is the AI Day explanation by in 4 parts.

Here is a useful blog post asking a few questions to Tesla about AI day. The useful part comes in comparison of Tesla's methods with Waymo and others (detailed papers linked).

or they turn it on and understand the disclaimer that is put forth that it is beta and can do the worst thing at the worst possible time and are ready to intervene if and when necessary......this thread is a bunch of debbie downers and maybe I am too new to the tesla/fsd(b) program but to me I disengage when I know it might do something reallly stupid and re-engage once that area is behind me. I find it very useful and fun actually. I actually look forward to the advancements. Again maybe I am too new to the tesla family but even if I had been in beta or bought the package years ago, I'd be thankful that i got it for a lot less expensive than I got it for (first tesla mylr delivered 6/23 and bought fsd when the price was reduced from 15k to 12k).....certainly don't want to start a war but the whole definition of beta explains it all
Sounds like my first couple of months on the junk when it came out to us peasants after playing the Safety Score game.
Anything better on 11.4.7.2?
Yea. The auto wipers are doing great. They greet me when I get into my car.

I guess that’s what I get for complaining that the auto wipers don’t wipe at all. Now they just wipe whenever. Even when I’m not driving 🤣🤣

That’s good. The auto wipers are driving me crazy on clear days. Thank you for the information.

When you have been at it (beta) for nearly three years, let us know how you feel then.

You make a good point about being new to this. I too am only 10 months in and can’t appreciate the disappointment the OGs are going through having been here for years being promised that they will get their Robotaxi any day now.

For me I have accepted the fact that this solution is at best like a 16 year new driver that has to be constantly monitored and in some cases a need to intervene.

And the reality is this is a User Forum. And like most others you are going to get the Debbie downers no matter what.
It think it was three time, three times that the great Charlatan (Elon) spun a web of lies when pronouncing the “next” release would be a, “total rewrite” of code…. V12 will be the forth (lie or failure)…..

The dump started around 3:30 PDT, only an hour ago, and as of now, 420 have already installed.

Like you, I am not among them. This dump will pick up all but around 1,000 of us 2023.7 hangers on.

In my case, I think I'm last because I've been emailing and asking service via the app to please let me opt out of the testing program, as Tesla said we could in that original welcome to FSD email tester#1 posted earlier today:

Maybe it won't matter so much on this new 2023.27 release with the new features. Assuming we're not permanently black-balled. One more dump, hopefully today or tomorrow, should get us all on board, fingers crossed.
Wow! I finally got a response to my request to be removed from FSD beta! A Customer Satisfaction Survey. No, they didn't do anything about my repeated requests, only just asked how well they had done solving my problem.

I couldn't answer most of the questions because they all assumed something that was not true, like that they had done anything about my issue.

Methinks that failing to get the wipers to work is only just a symptom of a far more important problem...

After five weeks without FSDb because the car is in the body shop. I missed those FSD days on the highway but eventually regained the confidence of "(my)-self-driving" after 2 years of almost 100% usage. Considering the horrific traffic on the interstate here, it does handle well in my routes. For the city, not so much, especially the serious regressions in recent releases that make it unusable. I just received 11.4.7.2, but I felt that FSDb 11 is as good as it can get. Maybe v12 will return as the decent 11.3.6, but I am sure there will be other cans of worms.

Ha. So, I bit last week and swapped my 2018 M3 LR RWD for a 2023 M3 LR AWD. The FSD transfer is promised to come, but in the meantime I've got 2023.26.100.1 with FSD 11.3.7. My understanding is that factory loads sometimes take a some time to go off of zero, but maybe the 2023.27.6 will kick in, sooner than later.

I truly believe that 95% of FSDb customers turn it on for ten minutes, become terrified, and then never turn it on again.

There are two people in my office in exactly this scenario. “It’s awful, I turned it off” and then they were done. A coworker yesterday asked us about buying a Tesla and when asked about FSD we all said “no no no.”
The truth is 99.9999999999999999999999+% of FSD buyers have never even turned it on. In fact, other than Elon, there is only one other guy who has ever even considered trying FSD. And of course, as we all know, that guy is long dead. Everyone else, including every single person here, is lying. Just trying to impress us with their courage. "Oh, yeah? Well I USED FSD once, on the highway AND in town".........."So there"......."Suuuuuuuuure you did"............

Taking a page out of gearcruncher's book, those of you with Auto Wipers failing to engage when it's raining, open a service ticket and report it, making sure to note that it's a safety issue. If support does not fix the problem, or punts it to a "future update", then give them a reasonable amount of time for the next update to roll out. If that update doesn't fix it, report again to support - making sure to note that it's a safety issue. If they fail again to resolve, you can consider taking them to small claims court for violating the warranty and not fixing a safety issue.

That's me. Tried it like 3 times driving around locally. Each time it was like a drunk driver. The only time I use it now is on the freeway.
Okay for people who don't know or are not willing to learn, but the truth is it's not even close to being a Tesla without FSD. It ain't even a thing.......

I wonder how many people tried it, hated it, and aren’t likely to use it again any time soon. I would think that would be most people, but who knows.
It’s still better than regular AP. It’s stops for all types of different animals that try to commit suicide. My past Volvos had “large animal detection”. Those cars never even slightly slowed down for deer. Maybe the Volvos only avoid moose, which I literally think is what it was designed for? We don’t have moose in western NY. Closest you get is a pregnant doe, or the elusive 12 point buck that everyone claims to spot around this time of year…

I miss 11.3.4 and 11.3.6 so much it hurts just to read those numbers.

I got 11.4.7.2 3 hours ago.
If by tomorrow night someone does not have 11.4.7.2 then that person is really disliked by Tesla.
They hate me.........but that's ok, I hate them twice............ I'm rubber, they're glue............ I know you are Tesla, what am I? Nose is longer than a telephone wire...........

If the dozen “J” squad posters were omitted from this thread there would only be 20 posts in this thread. Many just like to grind on and on as if that helps anything. This unsolved complex solution will take time. More then Tesla Or us expected but I find the pro’s much higher then the cons personally. Oddly with all the wiper posts I checked in my car today (23) using FSD and the solution was as simple as turning it to off. Not ideal, but easier than writing about it daily. Granted they May not work for every version but it does for mine.
