This will be the wife's car and she was the one who choose the color. I was a bit skeptical at first. But it does look so good in person!
My wife picked blue as well. It is awesome in person, especially in the sun. It's been muddy on our road this week, and it doesn't show the dirt nearly as much as I feared.

The blue has purplish tone in some light. Others, it's a sort of electric blue! ⚡

So, as it has been some time since I ordered, and Elon has been frisky to my taste in the news, and the Ionic 5 has come out, I watched a couple comparisons again. The Ionic 5 looks nice in some ways, and apparently had better noise reduction and cabin noise than the year old MYP Edmunds was using in their comparison, but, on balance, I still like the Y better. The realistic range numbers for the MYLR seem right in there with the Ionic, and you get the the network, and I just like the cabin and storage and use of space better. And the overall look. The Ionic dash looks way over busy to my taste. About the only thing I really would like on stalks on the steering column would be wiper controls and lights controls. But I am guessing I will get used the the wheel buttons and voice control/automatic control easily enough. So, still in for the Blue MYLR here.

Oh, and there there is that charging network, important out here in the middle of Idaho, or at least south central mountains of Idaho.

I still keep trying to flip the wipers with the right hand stalk (which initiates Autopilot). The button on the left hand stalk, which pops up the wiper menu and gives 3 swipes, will be fine once I get used to it.

Yes, charging network. If CCS gets built out better quickly, it will be a win. Right now, from everything I have read, it is spotty. Supercharger network beats everything else.

When Tesla enables CCS and provides an adapter, it will make Tesla travel even better.

Flawless MYP pickup experience today at Tesla Boise. Spent 30 mins in the enclosed warehouse looking it over and zero, and I mean zero issues. Gaps and paint are perfect. Car has Michelin all season tires, flaps/rear PPF, and new AMD Ryzen chip like I had hoped for. Car is amazing. Did a few 0- highly illegal pulls and the acceleration is beyond crazy. Ceramic coat comes tomorrow.

Congratulations!

Picked up on Thursday
One tiny gap concern but decided to let it go... paint has a lot of orange peel but again decided not to worry about it.
In process of selfinstalling ppf... would not wish this upon my enemies but I'm saving money so I guess I have that going for me
Many "legal" pulls and driving by gas pumps with ever increasing prices makes this definitely worth it.

I headed over to the Meridian DMV at 8a this morning to get the plates from my prior gas hog Lexus GX460 moved over the new MYP. You've gotta love the DMV in Idaho, I was in/out in 5 minutes with my registration and transferred plates. The friendly clerk even apologized that the $20 2/year state parks pass could not be transferred over since the Lexus had already been sold by Carvana. I can get over that!

I think my Y might be morphing!!. MSM? Pearl White Multicoat?

Went down to get the misaligned trim piece fixed. They had to order a brand new one. Guess I'll be making another trip.

They did correct a minor wheel alignment problem that I found. Also fixed a loose cable under the passenger seat.

I also learned that voice commands do not work if you have no LTE connection! (Like that happens in Idaho) Who knew?

Still, love the car! No PB episodes driving up and down the canyon. Love the new Nokian studded Hakki 10s on slick roads. The guy in the pickup with oversize tires coming sideways down the middle of the highway near Banks didn't hit me, either...

Ok, you Idaho e-drivers that have received cars in the last few weeks, I have a question, and also just am hoping to hear how it is going for you!

Question: As I read and think about this, and presuming my car comes with the mud flaps and that rear PPF behind the doors, I am thinking I will use doe the nose of the car up to the front edge of the front bonnet. Anyone have a good source for a company that can do that well? And/or what did you end up doing?

Also, how is it going?

I picked up my MYP on 3/5, and only about 300 miles on it so far (short commute!), but it's been flawless! Zero issues on delivery, zero defects, and I went over the paint inch by inch when I applied a ceramic coating. I found no paint issues at all. I'm getting the the front windows tinted to match the rears tomorrow at Xpel Boise (Off I84 on Cole/Victory). They do a ton of Teslas and they do Xpel PPF. I've decided not to add any PPF beyond the rear fender areas that were done by Tesla before delivery.

Nice! So you think the ceramic will be good enough? Was considering that too, but that also looks a little techy and expensive, and maybe hard to do one’s self. Maybe I will talk to XPel Boise about it.

I'm willing to chance a few stone chips vs the cost of full PPF. The ceramic was shockingly easy to DIY. I'm pretty experienced with detailing, but it was still easy. A good wash, quick clay bar, wipe down with IPA, and apply. It goes on/off very easily. I used Avalon King ceramic that is very highly rated. For under $50 you can do the entire car, including windows/trim/wheels. Much cheaper than paying over $1k for a full paint correction and ceramic at a shop.

Can't help on the PPF.

We've put over 3000 miles on the car since we got it, and it's been just about a month. It came with a wheel alignment issue as well as a trim issue. Required a couple of visits to get those fixed. The trim they fixed yesterday. It is better but not perfect. Not worth addressing and it is likely "in spec". They replaced with a new part.

Over the weekend we went up to central Washington for a family visit. All but 20 of 400 miles on 2 lane.

Lots of inappropriate slowing due to white vehicles in the oncoming lane. It improved when we turned off Autosteer (which is essentially lane keeping assist) and drove with the passenger tires on the fog line. Same thing happened with headlights when it was dark.

We had a handful of phantom slowings, some light, some more like 65 down to 50. No slam on brakes events.

I hear that (when we can get it) software 2022.4.5.17 solves a lot of that.

Driving 400 miles through fast charger desert is interesting. We started out with 100% from McCall and stopped and charged in Lewiston at the Tribe's Casino. That is the only place between Boise and C'd'A with fast charging. They provide a Tesla adapter at the front desk. They have two Chargepoint chargers that have CCS and CHAdeMO connectors, and we used the CHAdeMO. It charged pretty quickly. There's no Mobile Data connection in the parking lot, and I honestly think that they don't actually charge you at all. You need a Chargepoint app on your phone to activate the charger, and it says it is charging 5 cents per kWh, (cheap) but my wife's phone activated it without even signing into the app. So...

Anyway, that's a lifesaver. Their charger is fully solar powered by the way!

Going DOWN from McCall to Lewiston it was no issue on range. Going back UP, we charged to 81% and it was unnerving. Used a lot more range up and we came home with 16%. ABRP at first told is we couldn't do it at all. So we drove back part of the way at 5 mph under the speed limit to conserve range. Next time, 100%. I am pretty sure it would be nearly impossible to get from Lewiston to Boise via that route. You might get to the Donnelly destination charger and then top off (slowly) for the rest of the drive.

We put on studded snow tires for the duration of the winter. Really glad we did since we hit unexpected snow driving over a pass in Washington. The standard tires slip a lot and although the software keeps you going in the right direction, you lose range spinning tires. Not fun where there are no chargers. You'd think that Grand Coulee Dam would at least have a J1772 as a nod to electric cars, but no.

Other than those issues (inappropriate braking necessitating not using Autosteer (I think FSD would be the same unless it is more advanced and dicey range for that one segment) it has been great fun. Car is comfortable overall, but bumpy roads are bumpy.

With all of that, we are really happy we have the car!

Hey all! Just checking in, and saying my EDD still has not changed in weeks. May 9 - June 6. Just basically waiting and trying to stay out of the Elon controversy and hand wringing over the new batteries. Interesting that the AWD standard range is priced at higher than I reserved my MYLR at.

How are you all that received your Idaho cars doing, and how are you enjoying your cars?

Enjoying the car a lot! Latest update got rid of the inappropriate braking. Have planned to take off the studded tires for weeks, but it keeps snowing! So we're leaving them on for now. Plan 2000 mile cross country trip leaving in about a week. That will be an adventure. Think we will add FSD for the trip.

Good to see your EDD is holding steady. I keep wondering if supply chain issues are affecting the folks who ordered after me. There are folks out there who ordered a week after me are still waiting 7 weeks from when I got my car.

Anyone in Idaho done a suspension upgrade or lift and used a Boise shop? I am considering a lift and would like a shop that's worked on Tesla.
