Regarding my EDD of July 12-19... just got this from my SA. Sigh.

Did you have to cut the film around the sensors? [

Yes. For every car that has had sensors since I’ve had PPF put on since 2002.

To be fair, Plaid+ was slated to be delivered no earlier than 2022. With recent changes there have been a number of Plaid+ orders that received theirs before Plaid orders placed before or around the same time.

From my recollection (my + order was placed on battery day 9/22), original delivery estimate was ‘Late 2021’. Then it moved to ‘Mid 2022’. And finally, never. My Plaid order has yet to receive a date. MSM 21” White CF FSD. No hurry on my part.
 
Push down the break, and click and hold both scroll wheel button. Keep holding until everything shuts off and the Tesla logo comes back on screen.
No need to push the brake, there is no difference. Just hold down both scroll wheels until the screen goes black. This can actually be done while the car is in motion. Everything still works, even the turn signals, just can’t hear them.
 
Ugh. Just found my first plaid. It’s red and beautiful. Wood inside looks amazing even on black interior. This waiting game is brutal.

Did their red change or something?? Looks totally different here. Sooooo deep and shiny.
This is a great shot of the arachnids. You can really see some of the concavity more than in most shots. Not that there's a ton of it, but it's definitely there with the width of these wheels (though they have a pretty high offset IIRC).

Red is such a deceptive color, IMO. In full sunlight it's probably my favorite color, bar none, but in any other lighting, it looks rather different.
 
I never did hear from anyone who has traded in a Tesla with FSD if it increases the value. Since FSD transfers with the car I certainly hope so.
100% yes. I sold my 2021 LRS to a wholesaler and he was very concerned it would not transfer. And he was paying me over the MSRP of the vehicle. If FSD did not transfer the deal was off. So without a doubt it added value.
 
I just got home from test-driving @omarsultan's car and having lunch together - thanks again Omar for letting me drive your car!

We drove through town for a bit then up the hills west of Walnut Creek, CA. Having owned a P85D and a fairly heavily-modified M3P (check my sig), my first impressions are:

1. The yoke is a non-issue, really. It took me less than 2 minutes to get used to the turn signal position and doing >90º maneuvers through town. Like anything, such as going from a stick-shift to a column-mounted shifter, it's just about building the muscle memory over time. I reached for a turn signal stalk just once but quickly got used to the yoke buttons. My only wish is that the yoke was a little narrower, as it's fairly wide (having gotten used to the small M3 wheel) though not as wide as the previous Model S/X wheels.

2. Suspension is highly adjustable, to the point where I thought it was potentially TOO stiff. We drove through some twisty hills and I didn't feel much body roll at all, unlike when I test-drove and first got my M3P (before the mods), so I was glad to see Tesla did a good amount of work on that front. This is potentially a return to the much-vetted "plus" suspension from early years - cc @lolachampcar your might be happy to read this.

3. The interior cabin feels much more refined than any Tesla I've ever been in. The center screen integrates very nicely into the dash (to the point where I think swivel isn't necessary), the armrest is positioned perfectly, and the lack of road noise is just fantastic despite noise cancelling not even being enabled yet. I can't wait to see how it is with ANC on.

4. The software still has a lot of missing features, but I'm fairly confident that will be fixed in v11. I do like the new layout though, and it will be a nice upgrade from the 15" Model 3/Y screens.

I did not launch Omar's car or even accelerate hard in a straight line, since (a) it was not my car, (b) it has been done by so many others already, and (c) this was not my primary concern anyway given what we all know what the car can do.

Again, huge thanks to @omarsultan for being such a graceful TMC member, willing to drive over 2 hours round-trip to meet with me and hand me the driver's seat! And great conversations over lunch, too (not just about Tesla). See you around the forums.

Thanks, I have heard stories that Tesla does not credit FSD to its trade in value but outside places do value it.

I too wondered about this and am anxiously awaiting a red to show up down here. Anyone received a red having previously owned red?

Awesome. Nice 1st impressions. Question...you mentioned the suspension almost being "too stiff." What settings did you have that set to and what settings did you feel was best for a good balance of sporty, firm handling without being too bumpy on the streets? My feeling is that I may set the steering to max sportiness/max firmness (unless maneuvering in parking lots) and I typically like the most firm suspension (but don't want to feel every crack and bump on the pavement). Thank you.

I generally agree with this when possible. What do you do when they forget to clear coat the door?

Anyways, I have a fisheye defect on the rear lid next to the license plate. The body shop said they would need to blend color coat into adjacent panels, and I told them I would rather just live with the fisheye defect. No point in extending non-factory paint onto multiple panels.

After handwashing and drying in my garage under controlled lighting, I have that same mark on my blue one. in the same spot. I had to really point it out to my wife for it to be noticed. I will point it out to the SC this month when I take it in for all the other little items.

Perhaps the spot is actually in your eye? You may want to see an ophthalmologist, lol. ;) Your wife probably thinks you're crazy.
