Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I am exactly a month behind you, in regard to order date. I ordered Dec. 11, confirmed Dec. 14 and just received my VIN this past weekend, January 18th. Got my first communication today from my delivery specialist telling me production is slated for mid February to the end of February with delivery from mid March to the end of March. I am in Tennessee so I'd expect mine to take a while to arrive but not quite sure how long the trip should actually take. Anyway, here I sit and here I wait.
I hope your car is currently in production at this date. I believe I was told by someone who should know, that the Model S takes a week to "build." I may have misunderstood but I do not believe I did. Please keep us posted on your car's progress! Good luck!
Thank you! I hope you stay on schedule. Waiting is painful! At least I have a quick trip from CA up to Washington...

Thanks! Actually, it shouldn't take too terribly long for the delivery of my car, maybe a week to 10 days from what I've seen with others here in TN. The cars are sent by rail to Alabama then trucked to Nashville to the only dealership in TN which fortunately I am not too far away. I am about 45 minutes away in "good" traffic, still farther than I'd like. So, once my car goes into production (and yours and everyone else's in the states, I'd say,) it's not long until it's delivered. I am hoping my DS will call me and say mine is being made early. You never know! Be sure to post when you get any firm info and I'll do the same!

@CBPfromTN i bought in Alpharetta, GA on 1/14 and my OA is Josh Lyles. He’s a great guy and super helpful, so if anyone is looking to do business there, ask for Josh. Since Decatur is my delivery center, my Delivery specialist is Frank Tesfaye. I’m near Chattanooga, and have zero info on delivery. I figure it’s still to far out for them to tell me anything yet.

So, where is the Tesla dealership you shopped? I was thinking you must've shopped the Brentwood, TN dealership! My OA is John Blanks and I feel the same way about him! He is the absolute BEST!!! So, what did you order?

Alpharetta is northeast of Atlanta. Nashville is about 2:45 for me, Alpharetta is about 2hrs flat. I ordered MS 75D in obsidian black, sunroof, and Premium upgrades. I stuck with multipattern interior since the vegan leather fealt a little thin for me. I’m sure it’s great, but I’m accident prone.

So, you bought from an Atlanta dealership? Well!! This is exciting! So, you placed your order on January 14th? When did you say they're telling you to expect delivery? I am sure they gave you some kind of delivery date....Probably April?
I love the Obsidian Black!!! I spoke with my OA tonight and he said he expects me to take delivery by the end of Feb. I do so hope he is right!

Dang, i ordered on 1/13, and i still haven't received my VIN.

@CBPfromTN when I ordered, I was given March. Probably late March to be more specific, but I’m ok with that. I’m in the middle of finishing up a home building project and would rather get it after moving to my new home. @DMack sucks that you don’t have a VIN yet. Funny thing if you get yours before us. I would be very happy for you if you did though. Where about are you taking delivery? Perhaps western US?

Ordered 12/29/17, Confirmed 1/1/18.
Still no VIN.
Contacted DS today. She's been ultra-responsive and communicative.
But not good news: "Delivery has been pushed to end of March."
And I timed my order to avoid the end of quarter rush!
I live about 30 minutes from the Factory so this supports the fact that proximity is inversely related to delivery time.

I'll be taking delivery of it in San Francisco.
Glad your order is moving along, i'm sure i'll get my VIN any day now.

The wait is killing me :)

Isn't the factory in Fremont, CA? The cars to be delivered to the Eastern part of the USA are sent to some place in AL and then trucked to nearby destinations. In other words, MY car will be sent by RAIL to AL and then from AL by truck to the Brentwood, TN location. I would assume that your car would be trucked from AL to your dealership in GA.

I live in California, quite close to the factory. I would be picking it up at the new delivery center not far from the factory. Doesn't have to be put on a truck at all!
