Art: just reading this made my heart rate go up.

TALDRIC:
I received a call from my DS.... he said... "Art are you sitting down?..." Yup " Your car just arrived, we pulled it into the service center and it is being prepped for a Wednesday Delivery if that is OK with you?"

We then worked out the time and some details about what I have to bring for the trade-in, wire transfer of funds, etc.

Subsequently my status in MY TESLA changed to the following....

Your Model S is undergoing final inspection, detail, and charging in preparation for delivery. To prepare you for the delivery of your vehicle, walk through videos are available to view. If you have questions, please contact your delivery specialist.

The Delivery Date is now March 2, 2016....

That change to MyTesla information happened some time AFTER the phone call.

I hope this helps?

A leap day to remember

I just received the "Your Model S Has Entered Production" email from Tesla. 40 days from order confirmation to entering production.

The last couple of weeks have been especially hard as I've been watching orders that were confirmed one to three weeks after mine entering production. I'm not sure if the longer wait was due to prioritizing 85 orders over 90 orders, the color (Titanium Metallic), or something else, but now that it's behind me I'm not going to worry about it.

Thanks to frequent updates from my DS, I got a sense of the amount of variability in the scheduling process. Here is the history of scheduled production week for my specific car:
  • 1/13: Scheduled to enter production "middle of February"
  • 1/20: Order confirmed
  • 1/21: VIN assigned
  • 1/26: Scheduled to enter production the week of 2/8
  • 2/4: Scheduled to enter production the week of 2/22
  • ?: Scheduled to enter production the week of 3/7 [The DS kept this one from me.]
  • 2/23: Scheduled to enter production the week of 2/29
  • 2/29: Entered production

Guess what I saw in "My Tesla" portal today? "Your Tesla has been built and is in transit from the factory."

I'm picking up at the factory, so there should be very limited time in transit, but due to my work schedule will likely not be able to pickup the car for a couple more weeks...

Ordered my MS70 (RWD) on 01/25
Entered production email received on 02/24
Have not heard yet from my DS on the potential delivery date options.

Maybe "punishment" for cancelling the X on 1/13 ...

Wow you beat me by a long shot. VIN is lower by over 700 & confirmed earlier, etc. 2 more weeks for me but congrats to you!

VIN 125183
Ordered 12/17
Confirmed 12/25
Production started 2/23
In Transit 2/29
Delivered - Estimate March 3 - March 10th

Hopefully I get closer to the March 3rd date! Not sure how long transit takes to Seattle, and how long they need to get it ready before I can pick it up.

Hi everyone, I received an email that my car went into production today, which is about a week earlier than quoted by my DS!

1/31/16 - Order Date
2/08/16 - Confirmed
2/24/16 - Entered Production

My initial date for delivery was quoted as March - Early April, and my DS indicated I would go into build during the first week of March. Looks like it happened about a week earlier than anticipated, so I am hopeful that the car will be ready for pickup closer to mid-March. MyTesla account now reflects delivery as "First Available" as of the update today.

I received an email from my DS that my car was in transit as of yesterday on its way to Milford CT. Looks like I will end up getting the car a few weeks earlier than anticipated!

True average can only be deduced by talking it over with your sales office. Maybe the folks there would know?
But 2-4 weeks from Production complete to "Shined up and ready for you" is perhaps a good target. You need to go into production soon and then trucked to the east coast. If put on a train, it won't make it there by 3/31.

Confirmation of 2/21 and end of March delivery would be considered "very good" based on historical time lags. My guess is you go into production by this Friday, complete by next Friday or sooner and then delivery by 3/30.
