Wiki Model S Delivery Update

The color is midnight silver. I confirmed the order on 11/27. The delivery was estimated at Late December/January...they hit that target by a few days. It seems a lot faster than what I test drove (75D) which was a nice surprise. Also, the all glass roof is nice. Stock radio sounds nice after you adjust the equalizer (crank up the bass/treble). Glad I didn't upgrade the audio....was really concerned about "anticipointment" as I have been on the board and checking mytesla.com. It's finally here and better than I thought it would be. Also - glad I got the premium upgrade. Didn't do air suspension -
Kids seats are nice than I thought too a didn't get to see that either on the test drive!

They really didn't miss a lot with delivery. It's got to be such a good feeling when you get a car like this...
Other than the speed, is between 75D and 90D any other big difference that you noticed?

No other big differences....the 75D i test drove did not have the premium upgrade either so that was a nice plus as well! If I didn't need the car for longer trips on a regular basis (traveling sales with a 3 state geography) I would have been perfectly happy with the 60 or 75 and saving thousands of $.

60 order confirmed on 12/27. Just got a call from my DS 1/28 saying manufacturing should begin mid Feb and I should get the car last 2 weeks of Feb. Original delivery estimate was late January-February. Ap 2.0 is still being rolled out though :| despite this, I'm excited is an understatement.

Thanks for sharing this update! We ordered a 60D 4 days after you. Based on your DS's estimate, maybe we can expect delivery earlier than the original estimate of March-April. (fingers crossed!)

I believe that if you don’t do long drives you don’t need 90D model, but I know that for me I that is the only option. Just like you said because I like little more speed and some upgrade also. Of course, as long everything fits into the budget.
Is the price difference really that big?

I placed my order 12/7, confirmed 12/15, 2016 model year VIN issued 12/18, VIN replaced with 2017 model year 12/21. MyTesla updated today to "Your Tesla is in Production" still with late January/February delivery estimate (original estimate was late March, but was quickly changed to Jan/Feb). Woo hoo!

No email or call from DS.

My delivery in the UK has moved around considerably since ordering in November 2016. DS explained to me this is usual as the team source parts (which I'm starting to understand based ont he challenges with the Model S and X supply chain, which they are looking to fix with Model 3 apparently?).

It went from early March, all the way up to June 2017 over the course of Jan.

Today changed to your car is in production! Whoop! Still shows late March/April as a delivery date, so despite the shipping delay I'm hoping is far more March than April! Good to see in production though.

Like you no email or call from DS, which would be a nice touch rather than having to keep scanning myTesla pages. Not hard to do system wise I'm sure as a simple link in their ordering/processing to the CRM system.

Update, DS just rang to say car built, being loaded on train to cross US today, should get to Holland and then to Manchester UK for pick up late March.

Is there a sticky post anywhere that covers off the time to cross US, then Atlantic, final assembly in Holland then ship to UK? I've been told usually 10 weeks to do that.

Very excited now!

Slightly miffed at missing out on a S 100D, rather than the S90D on order, but I guess I got free Supercharging and given I'll be doing a couple of + 1000mile roadtrips to French Alps each year, then on to Italy, that will probably come in handy.

I placed my S90D order on 1/15. Order confirmed and VIN issued on 1/22. My DS says that the car is slated for production during the week of 2/27 with estimated mid/late March delivery.

Time for the silly question: Where on the MyTesla page is the delivery estimate found? Under "What's Next?" mine just states "Your Tesla order has been confirmed and scheduled for production in our factory." There is no estimated delivery stated. I'm more curious (and antsy) than anything else.

Your MVPA might have an estimated date. Otherwise your MyTesla will only display an estimate when it actually enters production. Then your estimate will go from a vague 1.5 month timeframe to more and more specific date ranges as the car exits production and is prepared for delivery.

Ordered an inventory 75D in December. It was delivered mid December and the specs were incorrect. Very long story. I went home in a Honda Uber. I wasn't happy and I wasn't impressed with Tesla at all.

The Tesla staff wasn't the most helpful. My original salesperson called me, wasn't apologetic at first.

Finally after multiple emails to the factory, I ordered a brand new 90D from the head of the dealership. I was promised expedited January delivery.

On Dec 28, 2016 my order was confirmed with a delivery date of Late Jan - Early Feb. I didn't believe this would happen. Yesterday my Delivery Specialist called me (after a few emails) and said I'll be getting the car in early March. She said the Fremont factory is undergoing a 10 day retooling which impacts production.

I considered cancelling my order overall but decided to keep it. I'm looking forward to my car but I really just want to pick it up and leave the factory. I don't want swag or handshakes. Just my car.

Sorry to hear about this

can you please describe what specs were incorrect on your delivered car in December?

I went to the dealership in December to talk about inventory vehicles and see the dark ash wood because I hated the pictures of it. I saw it in a floor model car and I thought it looked good. The sales guy said they have a TON of inventory cars with the dark ash wood. I saw the figured ash wood in person and hated it. I told the sales guy that I'd NEVER buy a Tesla with the figured ash. He said ok, here's a bunch with the dark ash wood.

I went home, we talked over the phone the next day. I'll admit I forgot the names of the different wood interior finishes. The sales guy said ok here's 2 that you'll love WITH THE WOOD YOU LIKE.

So I took his word on it. That was my mistake. But he also guaranteed me all the specs I wanted were there.

So I go to the factory to pick up the car and it has the figured ash wood. I said nope, not what I ordered. Instead of offering to find what I wanted, the star said, well what do you want to do? I said, I want the correct wood. They briefly looked online, said yeah, they're all figured ash. We can't find any dark ash wood.

Argh.

I said there's no way I'm going to pay close to $100k for a car with the wrong specs. So on my way home my sales guy calls and says he clearly told me the wood was the figured ash.

This is simply not true. Took him about 5 minutes to finally say, ok, it was a miscommunication.

He calls me a few hours later and says he found me a car but it's in Denver, it's a P90 and it has carbon fiber. But says it's fully loaded like the one I wanted. I said fully loaded, all options except for air suspension and that charging upgrade nobody gets? He says yes.

Sends me the PDF.

It's missing the upgraded autopilot. Which I told him I had to have. And he wants to charge me a $2500 transportation fee. Didn't mention any of this on the phone.

At this point I realize that this guy doesn't do well with details.

I call the factory again, they put me in touch with the head of the dealership and they recommend ordering brand new, I'll still get free supercharging, etc. And promised expedited delivery.

So the good news is I'm getting exactly what I want. Bad news is no expedited delivery. Not the end of the world, but another thing that was told to me by Tesla which didn't happen.

My overall frustration is that I was very clear as to what the deal breakers were and said this several times. And what I said wasn't heard or it was overlooked.

So I ordered a S 75 on 1/15; received a confirmation on 1/23. I have not received a VIN number. I was promised late March but I don't see anything that confirms that, only the same, "Your order is confirmed and is being scheduled for production..." I see others who ordered long after me received VIN numbers on the day of the confirmation or within a week. I know I sound impatient, but does the VIN number appear on the My Tesla page or somewhere else in case the Tesla email with it was lost in Spam or cyberspace?
