Latest Update on Production Schedule and Estimated Deliveries

I spoke to my delivery specialist yesterday to find out what the current production schedule really is, and to see if I could get a handle on when I could realistically expect to see my car (P2009 85kW).

He said that the are still at the 200 cars/week level, and would need another couple of weeks to finish up the last of the Sigs. By that point, they hope to ramp up to 400 cars/week...There are no guarantees that they will be able to at that time...But that is their hope. However, once they do make the shift to 400 cars/week, THAT is when then will be able to give more accurate delivery estimates for the Production cars. At this point, he can estimate that my P2009 won't arrive until at least mid-to-end of January. My most recent estimate prior to that was late November-early December. Clearly I wasn't thrilled with this latest update (delay), but I'm trying to be Zen...It's been 2 1/2 years, what's another couple of months... :/

Also, I asked how realistic my 2009 number was, taking into account the reservation holders ahead of me that either a)Upgraded to a Sig, b)Switched to a Model X, c)Ordered a 40 or 60 kW battery car, or d)Dropped out all together. He said that those numbers are probably around a couple hundred or so...BUT, he also said that they will be making the Non-Sig Roadster owners/friends&family cars immediately prior to the general Production cars, and that there are a few hundred of those. So, as far as my P2009 is concerned, it's realistically still right around 2000 on the list from the time they finish with the Sigs and move on to the Production cars.

So, that's the update...I hope this enlightens any of you that have been wondering what's going on...And if you've heard anything contrary to what I was told yesterday, I'd love to hear about it.

I think the highest/last US Sig should be VIN 1000 regardless of what the reservation number is.

Over in the Teslamotors forum, someone just reported a VIN over 1000:

drusnack | NOVEMBER 7, 2012
Sig 902 - received VIN 1010 (!) today - no delivery date yet
performance, sig red, grey wheels, black leather, carbon fiber, pano roof, no spoiler, rear facing child seats (which are supposedly not ready yet and will be installed later)

Maybe the founders are in the VIN count but not the US 1000 Sig count ???

Very depressing. I was told about two weeks ago that p3339 would arrive in "January or February". Based on what you were told it sounds like March is more realistic for me. Dang.
Frankly, I have no idea what to believe. The estimates are all over the map. I ran some numbers based on cancellations and such in another thread and got near P3000 at the end of the year (assuming non-85kwh are delayed to 2013). The DS are undoubtedly giving the best info they have, but I think that no one really has any clue and probably won't until the production line hits a steady state.

Sig Performance #442 for St Louis loaded on a truck tonight. Should leave Fremont heading East bound this evening. I am told that the covered truck holds about 6 cars. So 5 more of you are about to be satisfied. Truck is heading direct unless there is a drop off between Ca. and STL. After it hits St Louis I am not sure where the next drop offs are to be.

Hmm, your VIN is 3 off from mine, same delivery window and reservation # within a few dozen of each other, maybe mine heading to Raleigh is on the same truck!

Although the DS was claiming mine was loading on Sunday or Monday; easy to believe multiple trucks headed out east given the volume of undelivered Sigs at this point... one alternative being if there is a gap between loading day and shipping day while they wait to have enough vehicles headed out on a particular route to completely fill up a trailer.

In Atlanta we're hoping Sparrow's S105 is on that truck. Three others were delivered here about two weeks ago, but they pretty much disappeared into the woodwork. Sparrow is a local EV activist and so all of us EV nuts will get to see his :)

WATT-UP, everytime I see your username I do a doubletake ... There's a WATT UP user in the VoltStats.net database, and I keep thinking it's you (he's in MD so I know it's not you). He is well-known in the VoltStats.net community, having achieved some astonishing numbers with his Volt, meaning many thousands of miles electric despite the short range. Of course a Model S will do that a lot faster, but we couldn't buy a Model S two years ago like we each did with our Volts :)

Us East Coasters really appreciate the truck reports!

Received a VIN today. 991. Not in production yet but close. They are going to be hustling to make my 2nd delivery window, which started today. I still have no explanation as to why people behind me with my configuration have cars delivered or on trucks when my car is not even in production. I think they misplaced my paperwork and put me toward the end of the line once they discovered it. It's the only explanation I can think of.

Geographical batching?

Doesn't make sense... Cars have been delivered all over by now. At least 2 S' have been delivered to my area, one with my old config, one with my new config. I could buy the "sitting in final inspections thing", but if a car doesn't have a VIN, its likely not sitting there right?

I received a copy of my billing of lading last night. That paperwork indicates my car was picked up on Tuesday at 5PM so it would appear my car left one day before the St Louis truck. Anyways, the BOL says delivery on Monday at 5PM. I'm assuming that is just some kind of estimate hopefully based on the other stops it has to make. VIN 510 is on its way home and that garage spot I have left open all Summer long will finally get filled.
