P2009/VIN1929 is home in the Hamptons! It arrived at the NY Service Center on Christmas day, and because of holiday traveling, we took delivery on Sunday, December 30th (Hello, federal tax credit!). I could have scheduled in for a day earlier, but didn't due to the rain and snow we had. As it was, it arrived with a fair amount of road grit/salt spray on it, and my delivery specialist confirmed that they owe me a full detail. I was all set to take lots of photos, but the grime on the car made me decide to wait until after it's been detailed to set up a proper shoot.
Anyway, what can I say? The car is awesome, even more so in person. In all of the photos I've seen, it looks like a really nice sedan. In person, it looks and feels (and drives) like a supercar. My boys (6 & 9) have been going nuts, begging me to take them out for "test drives" all day long. I obliged and, to be totally honest, between the take-offs and regen braking, I made myself a little car sick...That's how powerful it is. Not complaining, just observing. The ride is so smooth, and the car handles phenomenally. I've not had the opportunity to really test out the speed and maneuverability head to head, I'm waiting to get a little more comfortable behind the wheel first. I did wave a Ferrari FF through a 4-way intersection ahead of me, and he certainly checked me out, with his head of a swivel as he drove past me. All I could think was "Catch you later..."
I'm very happy with my blue car, even though it is a little darker than I was expecting...The photos of the blue Model S in the Tesla gallery are a total farce...In person, it reads very similar to the photos a lot of people have been posting, as in very near black. As for the interior, the grey looks AMAZING, way better than the tan in my opinion, as it blends with the other interior colors of the car really well. I am also very happy with the matte Obeche...Color-wise, it works perfectly with the grey, and it's beautiful and natural and very understated. To some, it might be too understated, but I really like it. The gloss Obeche pops off the dash and, to me, feels more like an old-school Jaguar kind of look. If you have a green or brown Model S with tan leather, I bet the gloss Obeche would look pretty good with that combination. But for me, the grey leather and matte Obeche is just the aesthetic that I was hoping for.
What else can I say? I'm driving the future!
