So just curious when would we update/upload insurance? I mean I understand once VIN is released we can put insurance on it at anytime.

but… I’m not paying for insurance on a car I don’t have. So I’m curious 🤨 when would Tesla want us to do it so it doesn’t slow down the process
I swear I have heard of people putting in a copy of their current insurance card when it asked.

And a cross post from a guy in the order tracking spreadsheet thread saying similar:

My SA just called. So here is what is going on. They have started shipping cars WITHOUT vin numbers to the destination locations. They are doing this because there are about 10,000 cars that are requiring a firmware update. So to avoid shipping delays they are pushing the cars out now. In my case our cars are here in orlando however they can not release them until they are able to do the firmware update. Once the firmware is pushed the VINS will automatically be assigned and we will have three days to pick up the vehicle. If we are unable to pick up the vehicle at that time we will have to wait for the next batch. He said batches are being released every week throughout June.
I asked what the forewarn update was for and he said Tesla has not told them for confidentiality but his guess is it’s a safety update otherwise they would release them and do the update later. He also said it normally is not this rushed but due to the demand and this firmware issue things are a little out of wack right now and asked for us to be a little more patient. Fingers crossed we should be seeing cars rollout soon!
Good to know. The Orlando branch is 2 miles from me. Fingers crossed

This is a screen shot of the insurance part on my account. I live in a state that requires the Tesla VIN before I can upload.

Interesting.. I should have read more before I uploaded mine. I will have to update another one as I live in a state that is not on that list. Thanks for posting this since I failed to read the first time.

I guess you have to move pretty quickly when you get your VIN.

It's fine. They only require delivery before you drive the car off the lot. Most people just upload their current insurance then replace it when they get the VIN. Either way, it doesn't impact when you'll get your car. Just make sure you have it corrected before going to pick up your car :)

It has been 1-13 weeks a few times the past 2 weeks but as of right now it's June 05 - June 24
Talked to the Kansas City SC today and the person who I talked to (Jacob) said they have a lot of model Y's on their lot now. I asked about the model 3s shipping but are waiting for any updates before being able to be delivered. He stated that the updates were mainly for the Y.. that all model 3s that were being shipped were good to be delivered. Which is interesting.

He looked at my account and some forecasting report, and said I should be seeing a VIN end of May/early June (which is what the last person who I talked to from this location said).. My estimated delivery on my account page still says 1-13 weeks from order placed date. I suppose I should apply for financing from Tesla later next week.

Just curious 🧐

I wonder on the weekend if Tesla moves the dates of delivery to reflect (ex. 4-12 weeks) because no one works at the plants…

All week it was June 19-29, now it’s 5-12 weeks from order.

Thought?
I'm unsure. My order dates changed from 05/27-06/17 to 7-11 weeks from order. First time I haven't seen an actual date range.
Based on other posts I'm seeing, this seems to be happening to a lot of other people as well. I ordered 04/13.
