Supercharger - Grand Forks ND

Yeah although when the border opens, I'll need a charger there. I don't like having to spend overnight in Grand Forks.

At least we don't have to do that in Fargo any more. The Fargo SC opened just days after we last overnighted at The Element.
With the CHAdeMO in Grand Forks, can't you just top off in Fargo and get enough of a bump in Grand Forks to make it to Winnipeg (in the summer, at least)? That's my plan for my next trip up.

No Chademo for me. I'll have to look into borrowing one. That's a good thought, thanks.
I think the era of Chademo has come and gone, and Superchargers are close to full coverage. I'm not interested in buying one any more unless it's a steal. My main strategy is to look forward to a Supercharger install.

Depending on when you head north, you can borrow mine if you're willing to run through Minneapolis.

As I mentioned, there are CCS/ChaDEMO chargers in Grafton and Hillsboro (as well as 2 in Grand Forks) - these units also have J1772 charging. Also in Morris MB the Tim Hortons has a J1772 charger. So if the car won't quite make it from Fargo to Winnipeg (It would be close, depending on speed and wind) there are always J1772 options to provide a bit more - just makes the journey a bit longer.

My wife too is eager to start visiting the USA - but only when we and they have Covid well under control. Waiting for my second vax.

New utility location request for digging starting possibly as early as today (2021-06-03). I note that it was initiated by the same company that just did the same thing for Bemidji, MN, see: Supercharger - Bemidji, MN. Seeing the activity on Bemidji was what got me to go looking for activity on Grand Forks, so H/T to @emiliorescigno.
I was at the Target in Bemidji on Sunday 5/30. Obviously nothing yet but I'll keep an eye. I'm in Bemidji pretty often during the summer. Might have to make a special trip to Grand Forks...

Thank you, good find. Promising. I'm due for a second vaccine shot shortly, and I assume when both sides have low rates of infection the border will open...

Odd, but the outline -where to mark - seems to be centered a row over from the grassy median that is where we've assumed the chargers would go. Giveaway too is the cross-over lane between two parking rows that corresponds to the gap in the grassy median. Also, when we were last there (ah, memories - remember travelling?) I was trying to figure where power would come from, and speculated the green transformer box by the entrance from S38th behind Valvoline. Instead, it looks like the marking goes up to the Target store, which makes me wonder if the power will be fed from the Target building.

(I'm assuming they don't paint markings on the floor inside of Target or Famous Footwear? :) )

Would that involve jackhammering the sidewalk in front of Target and some of the parking lot to bury the cable? Time will tell.

Noticed some dug up grass today and a storage box in the area the chargers are supposed to go. Hopefully it’s Tesla related!

Perhaps they can use a horizontal drilling machine to get the wires underground to the transformer behind Valvoline then? The dig in your photo is where they'd start the drilling from. But then, i would assume they need the whole path to the green transformer box mapped for utility location....

Any corresponding dig for he other end where that driveway to the north of the dig intersects S38th? There's a big green electrical box on the corner there I recall.

Promising. Time will tell. Thanks.

My wife reported to me that the area that the chargers go is blocked off and there is equipment there. She didn't get me pictures however so I can't confirm
Correct!
