Tesla Model 3 in Australia

For sure, no financial advise. I’m familiar with ComSec but I didn’t think they offered hedging for international share purchases. As the AU dollar is so low, it seems like a bad time to buy US shares for me, as any increase in AUD is going to offset growth in the US shares. Am I making sense?

Sorry, while you do make sense, I do not know about hedging. My ability to forecast future currency movements - just like the Model 3 - has not been delivered yet.

So you are upset that Tesla is rewarding customers who, through their early purchase of higher-margin product are ensuring the financial viability of the business and who through their repeat purchase of Tesla product are showing extraordinary customer loyalty and are likely to be Tesla product promotors?.
No, I was addressing your prior statement that S/X owners don’t jump first day reservation holders

At this stage, I am willing to make a bet that you are not successfully employed in the retail industry.
Unfortunately no. Because in the year 2019, such an employee in said failing industry would be getting a financially lucrative redundancy package in the not too distant future. Unless of course in our current neoliberal world, the company filed for bankruptcy to avoid the employee payouts...

Have further updated list for 488xxx, 489xxx 499xxx to be more specific. Let me know if you know any outside of this range

Makes sense to allocate the unicorns (p3-) first.

Hi All,
Like most here im getting excited about the car arriving. I've tried to search for vin number but i get the following;
/inventory/callback/5YJXCAE4XGF006813
This looks completely different to others so does that mean it's not valid?

Matthew

That looks like a placeholder Model X VIN that has been noticed in the past by several others. The 4th and 5th digits should be "3F" for RHD Model 3 so you will have to wait for your actual VIN.

SR+ Just got a VIN - 5YJ3F7EA8KF442** any idea what ship this would be on @Vedaprime lol
Cap Capricorn (last week), Kota Express (this week), or Brotonne Bridge (next week), are realistically the only likely ones. We don’t know if the first ship has the earliest, but production would probably not be out of sequence, and yours is in the earliest range. We don’t know enough to be sure at this time.

Thanks. This saves a whole lot of time. Been Vincrazy today. Lots of delivery calls, vin assignment, vin changes, vin disappears

If you already have 3-phase in the garage, the car will come with HPWC that supports using single phase or 3-phase. With Australian electrical codes and suppliers from single phase you will most likely will not be able to get more than 32A constant charging power. With 3-phase you could go 3x16A giving you 48A charging power. Going higher than that has no use as the AC charger inside the car will not be able to use more than 48A. however going with 48A, you will have the option of charging almost a third faster than from 32A from single phase HPWC or almost 4 times the speed of charge from a 15A socket, as they recommend leaving 20% buffer for constant draw, so the 3x16A on 3 phase would be installed as 3x20A or total 60A connection, the single phase 32A configuration would need to be done as 40A connection and if you use a standard 15A connection, you should be charging at 12A constant.
At least this is what I have been told. I could be wrong.

Thanks for that. I am booking in the electrician to install the charger with 3 phase when I finally get the car. Now all I need is for that delivery specialist to finally call me!

A single phase Connector like ray has delivers close enough to 1kmh per amp, so 32 amps will not deliver 50kmh

Not according to Tesla... Model 3, Single phase 32A = 50km/h

Aren’t you both saying the same thing?
