Not sure we should read too much into this but the number of permits and superchargers under construction in Europe and Asia is lower than I can recall for a long time. None in Asia and only 3 permits and 3 under construction supercharges in Europe.
Almost all the activity is now happening in N. America.

I think we have seen this ebb and flow - a lot of activity in one geography and less in the others. I'm sure it will be back to lots of activity in Europe or Asia and things slowing down in the us at some point...

I don't normally touch Map Options, but I also saw it yesterday. I happened to be checking distances, and thought Way Back was "return journey". So it was a nice surprise when I saw it. :p

And that comes from the old cartoon Mr Peabody. He (Me Peabody the dog) had a Way Back machine that could send Sherman his pet human Way Back to some historical event!

We're not far enough off topic just yet, so...
From the Wiki: "The precise meaning of the acronym WABAC is unknown. According to Gerard Baldwin, one of the show's directors, the name 'WABAC' is a reference to the UNIVAC I."

I charged at Culver City today. I liked that the charging slots were all painted red. I was unimpressed that one non-charging slot was also painted red. I was also unimpressed that the sign at each slot said "Tesla Electric Vehicle Parking" rather than "Tesla Electric Vehicle Charging Only". The wording used sounds wrong both in being elitist and seeming to invite (I assume unintentionally) non-charging Teslas.

Surely Tesla wishes to spread the notion that these are not parking places, they are charging stations.

Parking for local owners to stop by and chat with travelers, share tips on local attractions, you know, encourage "Tesla Time!"

True, but sometimes Tesla has no choice in the wording due to the requirements of the city or property owner. However, I don't know how hard they try to push it, nor do I know what wording they start with.

Didn't realize you could view the animation of the buildout before I made this little movie... Oh well! I put together a video of just the U.S. supercharger network using the data from BlueShift and supercharge.info. It's pretty amazing to see how it has sped up, from 4-5 a month to what seems like 12 or more a month!!

Here's this month's update on the status of the latest batch of "Coming Soon" superchargers updated three months ago by Tesla. 32 stations have opened from that original Coming Soon list (plus 6 not on the list), with only about 8 more coming in the next month. Activity was slow in March - hopefully it will pick up soon for the summer construction season. Thanks to ItsNotAboutTheMoney for putting this in table form.
