Model 3 clicking sound near the rear wheel area

Not a safety issue according to everything I've heard, but mine did get louder over time, so I'd hesitate to let it go indefinitely.

Model 3 clicking sound near the rear wheel area

Service center added moly grease and replaced the rear axle nuts, no more click, for now at least. Went for a test drive after they fixed it to see if I could reproduce the clicks again - it's helpful to enable track mode for higher regen purposes which made the click during regen louder...

Model 3 clicking sound near the rear wheel area

Based on somewhat similar issues people have had with Model S, the answer to this appears to be no - only covered by the 50k mile warranty because the Battery and Drive Unit Warranty is literally just those two items, nothing related.

Model 3 clicking sound near the rear wheel area

Just scheduled service for my (stock) 64xxx P3D- w/37k miles, which has been doing this for ~8-10k miles now. Started out sounding like a faint relay click noise, but has since gotten much louder. Does anyone know if this is covered by the Drive Unit Warranty (120k miles), or the plain 50k...

Tesla's 85 kWh rating needs an asterisk (up to 81 kWh, with up to ~77 kWh usable)

IIRC from winter driving, it is. But that only happens when the pack is really cold. Like below freezing. One thing to note is from my experience, power used for HVAC when not in "Drive", is not counted. So if you sit parked with the heat (or A/C) on, that power is not accounted for in the...

    Elon Musk vs. Short sellers

Yes. No. Kinda. The hardest part is being able to recognize what options flow is worth following, and what's not. I use it as part of my overall strategy, with other methods for developing a sort of mental "confidence score". Rarely do I trade against an existing, obvious trend for...

    Elon Musk vs. Short sellers

To be frank, it's probably not even on their radar. They've not only got bigger fish to fry, but I see this kind of thing happen literally every single day to all kinds of different stocks. The magnitude here raises an eyebrow, but it's by no means isolated to TSLA.

    Elon Musk vs. Short sellers

Worth noting that just before the Moody's downgrade, someone(s) bought an enormous amount of way-OTM April 250 puts starting a couple weeks before the event and continuing right up to the day before. (from my trading notes) (About 4000 contracts) Happened at this point on 3/14/18: (note red...

Prediction Thread - "You Called It"

Same day I posted that. In hindsight, the mention of vehicle production seems like an embellishment that person may have added, but I could see semi assembly at GF1, assuming painted body parts would be painted at Fremont then perhaps shipped to GF1 on the return trip for the trucks that...

I really don't understand the obsession with wireless charging, especially for the semi. Imagine a 90% efficiency wireless charger, charging a 300kWh pack in 1 hour (gotta be competitive with cable charging, since you're trying to save time/effort by not having to plug a cable in). The losses...

Agreed, definitely worth a read. Alex's history of driving is significantly more impressive than that too. People said the same back in 2013. Bitcoin specifically might drop to zero if there's a successful hard fork to a "Bitcoin 2" of sorts, but in such a situation, you'd end up with the same number of coins on the new chain as the old chain. (Assuming you control the private keys to your wallet...

I absolutely could see him passing up the best site when the state in question has been as scummy as Michigan... Have to take into account relative "best-ness" of a site. Some site in WI or another state isn't likely to be so much worse than Durand, MI that they'd consider sinking billions...

I'm wondering if Project TIM is Tesla, but since it would all hinge on Michigan allowing Tesla to sell and service cars in the state, if Michigan is dragging their feet, they could casually ask if WI wanted the plant instead. Michigan already lost out on the Foxconn plant to WI, so it could be...

Sounds like it isn't a cell production bottleneck, but pack assembly. As I understand, that's what Elon was at GF1 for when he was camping on the roof. If we take into account the tiny trickle of 3's lately, that makes more sense than cell production. Assuming that's the case, who knows...
