How often do you use a Supercharger?

I mostly charge at home, but do road trips 2-3 times a year. Over last 12 months I have charged 72% at home and 28% at superchargers.

Auto steer doesn’t change lane [Lane change is part of EAP / FSD]

The basic autopilot based autosteer function to me is a parlor game….not really very useful. The traffic sensitive cruise control, however, is very useful. I never use autosteer as it seems more of a hindrance than a help.

German Auto Maker EV Interiors: Luxury But Too Busy

After driving a model Y for two years, when I see the interiors of Audi, BMW and Mercedes EVs, while they are very luxurious, there is just too much going on and I think it would be distracting as a driver. Same holds true comparing the German EVs with the S and X I think. I guess I’ve grown...

Tesla model Y owner adds buttons to touchscreen

What I would really like is a way to open glove box without going into screen menu or going through left scroll button. The left scroll button (pushing down on it) to get fan and other settings is nice but you still need to briefly take your eyes off road to see what you are doing, so that is NG.

    Factory Installed Car Play?

Isn’t the real advantage of the Tesla MMI the integration of navigation and supercharger network. On road trips it is very useful and you dont have to use third party app on phone such as plugshare or findabetterroute to figure out where to charge.

Pay with Plaid at time of delivery?

I deleted Plaid as a payee and changed password. I’m probably getting a lot of junk email as a result of Plaid accessing my account but, it was easy, and when I took delivery in Dec 2021 the ability to do ACH from Bank account was not transparent. At the time there was a severe shortage of...

MYP All Season vs Summer Tires

Getting tires at any dealership/Service Center, ICE or EV is always more expensive than going to a reputable tire installation company, such as American Tire for example.

P ZERO A/S Plus Elect vs Pilot Sport A/S 4

That’s a fair point. That’s why I would want to see comparative metrics, and a larger sample size is preferable. But I have had P-Zeros on an Audi SQ5 (my pre MY LR SUV) and on my current Mercedes c43 amg cab. They are very good tires.
  13. kc1953

P ZERO A/S Plus Elect vs Pilot Sport A/S 4

It depends on how much better tread life the Pilot A/S has, and how much quieter the P -zeros are. Unless you are taking your MYP to the track I would choose quiet and efficiency over performance. But key for me would be the relative quiet vs relative tread life metrics.

Should have purchased a CCS adaptor before the road trip

Same here. SC choices are generally significant and where I stop and how low I am willing to go depends on a variety of factors including amenities nearby SC, SC max speed 150 vs 250 kw, # of SC,and what I personally need…just a br break vs a meal. After a couple of roadtrips the anxiety goes...

Tesla Begrudgingly “Recalls” FSD Beta for NHTSA

I’m assuming Tesla will just disable FSD OTA and then release an OTA software update? I don’t have FSD and am not really all that interested in it, but I hate for this to give more reasons for anti Tesla/anti EV folks to promote their “long live the ICE” campaign.

Tesla 14-50 Adapter and NEMA 14-50 Wall Socket Don’t Seem Compatible

That is correct! I’ve been successfully charging my Y using mobile adapter and NEMA 14-50 for over a year now. Works great. Bought a second mobile adaptor and 14-50 plug to carry in car.

Unfortunately the corded mobile connector is frequently out of stock. I use the mobile connector that came with my 2022 MYLR (Dec. 2021 deliver so mobile connector still came with car) and a NEMA 14-50 adaptor for home charging. I never unplug it. I find the charging speed perfectly adequate...

Thanks for sharing your perspectives. I might buy one just to have in the event the situations you describe manifest themselves. MY: Fun to drive?

The MY is fun, but not Miata fun. I have an MY and a Mercedes C43AMG convertible, which is is really fun. I would not want the MY as my only car. It is not a take it out and run it through the twisties car. If that is important and you want an EV, get a model 3, which handles better than the Y.

Tesla sales rep said MY with 4680 will NOT have longer range

The Model Y will evolve just like the S/X. The range and features on a 2022 S/X are far different than on a 2015 S/X. The same will happen on Y. Gen 2 Mobile Connector and 14-50 adaptor

Yes, you are correct. But given that’s not what I did, the economics of installing a wall connector now are not compelling. The electrical to hardwire wall connector would need to be relocated as the current 14-50 outlet is situated in an area where there is not enough room to mount wall...
