CA Waiting Room

It sucks but it's the way Tesla has been delivering for some time. If you ordered in April and are in CA, they know they can get it to you quickly (i.e. the last week of the quarter). If someone on the East Coast orders 6/1, they need to get it built and on a train quickly in order for that person to take delivery before quarter's end. So if they get an influx of East Coast and Midwest orders this week, I suspect that would push back a number of CA deliveries regardless of when they were ordered. For the last two weeks of the quarter, you'll see essentially zero East Coast/Midwest deliveries -- they will all be West Coast.
I believe MY sold out for 2nd quarter weeks ago, so any new orders would be a 3rd quarter delivery, not prioritized for delivery this month

My SA told me in person that I should add FSD to my order because I could cancel it right up to actual delivery, "no problem." I had said I wasn't sure I wanted it and I could just buy it later, but he said it's better to finance it. Ok, fine, I can cancel it later if I really don't want it.

Well, my delivery day is tomorrow. I called the office to have them remove FSD because I still don't want it. Now they are saying if I do that, they will increase my price by $1,500 since the price has gone up. If the SA had a) not pushed me to add it to my order or b) had said I risked a big price hike I would not be in this situation.

Up until today I still had the "Remove FSD" option on the site, but now it's gone. I had texted my SA a day or two ago asking about this, but he did not reply. I have the feeling that it would have been fine if I had clicked that button before today.

I could hardly be angrier right now.

It was rumored that Tesla had reached factory capacity for Q2 but where those orders came from plays a role. As the delivery specialist told me a few weeks ago, think of Fremont as the bullseye and, for United State's sake, Miami is the outer edge of the dartboard. Probably starting next week, that outer edge is going to start shrinking each day and anyone outside will get bumped to next quarter. It'll continue to shrink to the last week where it will only be CA (and possibly immediate surrounding states) that will get delivery. Tesla bases a lot on estimation so while they think they've reached capacity, undoubtedly there will some room at the end.

Basically, the later you order, the best shot of getting one in that quarter is to be as close to Fremont as possible.

Ouch. That sucks. If I've learned anything over the last 2 months is that once you order, don't change any of the config unless you're willing to 1) pay more, or 2) get bumped to the back of the line.

Depending on how badly you care about the $1500, you could try have them un-match the VIN. You probably move to the back of the line, but you might be able to access the Remove FSD button again.

i've given up on watching the EDD. The anxiety and multiple let downs arent worth it. I just sit on the MY floor mats and play with all the accessories until i get the call from the SA.
I can't even do that! The only accessory I've purchased is the HomeLink garage opener and it explicitly says to not open the box or else the warranty will be void. 😐

I was told Ronnie is the ONLY SA in Temecula.
We met Ronnie when we did a test drive last July in Carlsbad, then decided to wait. Went for another test drive here in Temecula, this time my husband also drove and decided on the spot to place an order. Ronnie transferred to Temecula so we worked with him. Originally another lady was helping us, but Ronnie mentioned he'd previously met us at Carlsbad so she handed us over to him. Not sure if she was a SA or not

dates have moved around since day one. I totally give up. We went from 6-9 weeks, to no EDD, to EDDs that ranged 30 days, and now 15 days. For what it's worth, our SA is pretty quiet and has the standard, "you'll-get-your-car-in-June," answer. I've had to get answers from another showroom closer to home. When going there, one gentleman typed a a few things into his system and magically saw that our Y is set to be built mid-June, which would put delivery at end of June. Ordered end of April. Just wish we had known this car would take nearly 2 months to get...

You said "we went from 6-9 weeks...". 6-9 weeks is pretty much 2 months.

Should have clarified...originally, our EDD was 4 weeks out from order date, putting us at end of May/beginning of June (now EDD reads 6/15-6/30). It was not until recently the 6-9 weeks showed up for a few days, then disappeared. What I quoted in my previous post wasn't in chronological order lol

Several people from this forum have already picked up from Burbank.....But this is the message that should have been told to all of us from the beginning.....That way, if you're lucky enough to get it before, you feel special and if you don't it's what was expected.

I know I'm just preaching to the choir at this point...
I agree, Sherman Oaks location told me it only takes two weeks to get you car. This was back in 04/17/21 when I visited them but, we all know that is not what it takes to get your car delivered.

I would call or go in to the location and specifically ask to speak to your SA. The number you're texting is just a generic line, not their actual number, and is not an efficient way to get answers.

I decided to go on Tesla's website to check out the existing inventory. I didn't find anything in my config so I decided to use the chat function and talked to someone and she was able to search inventory near me and found an exact match and it was discounted $1620. So now I'm picking up between 6/5-6/8. They're transferring it from Costa Mesa to Buena Park.
