The next big milestone for FSD is 11. It is a significant upgrade and fundamental changes to several parts of the FSD stack including totally new way to train the perception NN.

From AI day and Lex Fridman interview we have a good sense of what might be included.

- Object permanence both temporal and spatial
- Moving from “bag of points” to objects in NN
- Creating a 3D vector representation of the environment all in NN
- Planner optimization using NN / Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS)
- Change from processed images to “photon count” / raw image
- Change from single image perception to surround video
- Merging of city, highway and parking lot stacks a.k.a. Single Stack

Lex Fridman Interview of Elon. Starting with FSD related topics.

Here is a detailed explanation of Beta 11 in "layman's language" by James Douma, interview done after Lex Podcast.

Here is the AI Day explanation by in 4 parts.

Here is a useful blog post asking a few questions to Tesla about AI day. The useful part comes in comparison of Tesla's methods with Waymo and others (detailed papers linked).

23.27.7 is VERY much stuck in the past. There is more to Tesla than FSD Beta.
It's neat that we get OTA updates from Tesla but even on an 'old' firmware version everything is still the same or better than when I bought the car. I just don't see the point in getting worked up about waiting a bit longer for an update.

Honestly, if FSDj didn't have trouble before, the way it behaves in the rain is borderline hilarious (if it weren't so sad). Here's a couple of short clips from a few hours ago, for your enjoyment.

Here's part 1:

And here's part 2:

Oh, and at the end it was about to barrel over the speed humps at whatever speed it fancied.

You should prepare grabbing your ankles now, as I'm 99% confident (at some point) USS will be disabled and you will be told TeslaVision replaces.... wait for (sh) it...

Sadly, it seems the culture at Tesla now seems to have taken on the same misleading prospective customers approach that its CEO employs. Please let us know how your solicitor views the "purported contract" (referenced written response) you are referring to. I suspect they will view it as, "non binding" as Tesla has some of the best lawyers on the planet for stuff like this (and to keep Elon out of jail).

It was interesting that Tesla continued until mid April to advertise all the parking functions as available when ordering a vehicle, when they were fully aware that from Oct 22 they were not, I along with a few other contacted Trading Standards, shortly after the specifications were changed and parking features were revised as coming soon. Yes I would agree that Tesla have powerful solicitors but worth spending £250 to £300 to get a legal opinion as it was suggested that it may be in breach of the sale of goods act in UK law, as in my case written assurance given that all features would be restored and available fully working in the New Year. I fortunately reply that following Tesla UK verbal and written assurances I will accept the vehicle and transfer payment, so there was a contract in law. Tesla UK on answering my complaint replied that the response given was only an estimate, hence I will wait wait until 2024 for a further legal opinion.

What is sad are the earlier posts reporting, factually, that FSDj 11.4.9 is indeed more junk. Now knowing that, makes the Holiday update package complete, and not worth fretting over.

1) FSD 11.4.9 - junk
2) “High Fidelity Parking” - rubbish
3) BT enabled headphones in the rear - not for “early adopter” refreshed model S/X owners
4) @WilliamG auto wipers - crap
5) Feel free to add to the list

The list seems quite long.

Looking forward to your update in early 2024.

What about the locking sound that can be replaced with porn sounds. We still have that to look forward to.

Being from the UK originally, I can tell you for sure that you have a much better chance of resolution there. Consumer protection is leagues better, compared to the rather laissez-faire attitude in the USA.

If there’s 2 million vehicles and the Teslafi sample is ~1:150 then that means roughly half a million popped tonight and another half a million popped in the previous waves. So there’s only two more waves left, or roughly 48hrs before everyone should have it pop for them.

The wipers blow my mind how they have gotten progressively worse/non-working. I feel they worked relatively well up until 11.4.x, whatever the early releases of V11 FSD were. Why can’t they just use that code for the wipers that worked? Or is this wiper rubbish part of the end to end AI v12 foreshadowing? If that’s the case, the future sucks.
