The next big milestone for FSD is 11. It is a significant upgrade and fundamental changes to several parts of the FSD stack including totally new way to train the perception NN.

From AI day and Lex Fridman interview we have a good sense of what might be included.

- Object permanence both temporal and spatial
- Moving from “bag of points” to objects in NN
- Creating a 3D vector representation of the environment all in NN
- Planner optimization using NN / Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS)
- Change from processed images to “photon count” / raw image
- Change from single image perception to surround video
- Merging of city, highway and parking lot stacks a.k.a. Single Stack

Lex Fridman Interview of Elon. Starting with FSD related topics.

Here is a detailed explanation of Beta 11 in "layman's language" by James Douma, interview done after Lex Podcast.

Here is the AI Day explanation by in 4 parts.

Here is a useful blog post asking a few questions to Tesla about AI day. The useful part comes in comparison of Tesla's methods with Waymo and others (detailed papers linked).

Tell me more. I have an August 2021 with USS and FSDj, running firmware 2023.27.12 (junk 8.1). What firmware did you have prior to the update?
It was the most current software version before. I resubscribes to FSD for a month to see how it had changed since I canceled it last June. Have already unsubscribed as well. Not paying $200 a month for that junk

Ah, so not an OG beta tester. You were not running six month old firmware, but rather v11.4.4.
our OG 2017 Model X with FSD HW3 MCU2 was upgraded to 2023.44.30.4 two days ago tho. Beta test on that one and my Model S since the 1st round of testing began years ago. Just cancelled it on my S for a 6 month hiatus 🤣

First for me but I got an email from Tesla at 12:57am this morning stating my Tesla was downloading the holiday update and instructs me to "connect to WIFI and tap the yellow download icon on your vehicles touch screen"

I have never received an email about an update AND there is no update to be had...lol

Just thought I'd share this since I have never seen it before

Interesting trick on tesla's part. I figured they deliberately attached the holiday update to the recall update to increase uptake.

Now an email extolling the wonders of the holiday update (and ignoring the changes to monitoring driver attentiveness on AP part). Like everyone else, this is our first time getting an email and like everyone else, the app doesn't indicate we have anything to download.

We won't be downloading this. We don't have wifi so are waiting to see if it is pushed over LTE (and installed automatically or simply asking us to install.) Last year waited until April to get the features of the holiday update (it was an upgrade to FSDb that we were actually updating to get). This year, I'll wait as long as I can, running the experiment to see if the safety recall will be thrust upon me.

Edited to add: we aren't updating because doing so is a pain at this time of year when we are so busy (each download takes about an hour for us to drive to to fast internet and download and drive home.) And because it is Christmas time, we don't have time to play with the new features. There are no compelling reasons for us to do the holiday update as soon as it is offered and the AP update doesn't matter to us since we use AP the same way we use FSDb so are used to the nags there.

Looks like I made the right call on giving this one some bake time. The software update has disappeared. Maybe it was the Grinch.
Had the same thing happen to me. Went out to my car to go to work and had a message that there was an update available (2023.44.30.2) when I came out from work to go home it had disappeared. 🤷‍♂️
Ok this is really weird. I had the update pushed to my car. I wasn’t on WiFi so it wasn’t downloading. I moved the car closer to the router and it started downloading. I then left town for the day and came back to no sign of the update whatsoever. “Your car software is up to date as of xxx. 2023.27.7” Has this ever happened before! What happened! Really frustrating.
Me too! Our car has decided that it no longer wants 2023.44.30.4, it is no longer waiting for wifi to download the update. It has decided that it's content to stick with 2023.27.7 for now. I wonder why the change.
