The next big milestone for FSD is 11. It is a significant upgrade and fundamental changes to several parts of the FSD stack including totally new way to train the perception NN.

From AI day and Lex Fridman interview we have a good sense of what might be included.

- Object permanence both temporal and spatial
- Moving from “bag of points” to objects in NN
- Creating a 3D vector representation of the environment all in NN
- Planner optimization using NN / Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS)
- Change from processed images to “photon count” / raw image
- Change from single image perception to surround video
- Merging of city, highway and parking lot stacks a.k.a. Single Stack

Lex Fridman Interview of Elon. Starting with FSD related topics.

Here is a detailed explanation of Beta 11 in "layman's language" by James Douma, interview done after Lex Podcast.

Here is the AI Day explanation by in 4 parts.

Here is a useful blog post asking a few questions to Tesla about AI day. The useful part comes in comparison of Tesla's methods with Waymo and others (detailed papers linked).

Honestly, if FSDj didn't have trouble before, the way it behaves in the rain is borderline hilarious (if it weren't so sad). Here's a couple of short clips from a few hours ago, for your enjoyment.

Here's part 1:

And here's part 2:

Oh, and at the end it was about to barrel over the speed humps at whatever speed it fancied.
Same experience for me yesterday and today, auto wipers didn't wipe even once in the rain, yet somehow FSDb was able to drive. Even when I cancel FSD/AP completely, the auto wipers still don't wipe.

On your part 1 clip at 22 seconds I caught a glimpse of your windshield at the camera housing area, which seems to not bead up as much as the rest of your windshield. Could that fool the system to think its not really raining that hard?

Could it be that the real truth is that some owners applied Rain-X treatment causing the auto wipes to fail? Clearly a user error!

Seriously, is this determined by the front view only? Could be a problem.

No offense meant, but that's completely divorced from reality. Here's a still:

The error is 100% on Tesla. These issues started minutes after installing 11.4.7.

I don't have much chance to test Auto wiper much in LA. Yesterday was raining a little. My wiper did not come on. I have not set it to Auto! I then turned it on to Auto. Wiper did not came on so I set it to 1 and gave it some wipes. Then I set it to Auto again. The auto wiper started to work but always a little late to my liking. But I just let it go.

I don't think many youtubers want to post v11.4.9 video for obvious reasons. The more things change the more it stays the same.
Hopefully my s gets the 11.4.9 and my x stays on the 11.4.4 track and even though currently there is no perceivable difference between 11.4.7.3 and 11.4.4 I'll take the time to run them in the same route, i'd also like to try the park assist in complete darkness other than the vehicle lights.

I brought this up a while ago. General consensus is: who knows? Have to ask Geogio Tsoukalos for sure.

My car won’t even check for new software. It last checked on Nov 20th… when did they break the every 24hr check? (I’ve tried rebooting to no avail)
My 2019 X has been on 11.4.7.3 since mid-OCT and it is very clear that it no longer checks for updates as regularly.

I used to be able to get in the car, go to the software page, and it would check for an update. This is no longer the case - it only checks every few days.

I am just trying to find the reason ! Instead of complaint, complaint, and complaint!
Well, when it comes to auto wipers, there’s not much to do but complain. They suck and have for some time.

Maybe someone from Tesla follows TMC threads/FB groups? Squeaky wheel may get grease? Then again, no one may be monitoring as no one at Tesla cares.

I can say for certain that Rivian monitors the forums and FB groups. How do I know? Well, I showed up for service once and they already knew how I felt…. I asked the manager how, and they said from my posts in the Rivian FB group. Truth.
