Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

Well peeps, I took a 10 mile, semi-challenging route (I.e., mix roads, rush hour, children and school busses) to a breakfast gathering at Shari’s…. Only three interventions, but I think only one was valid - FSD did not recognize a stopped school bus, with flashing lights and stop 🛑 sign extended (children boarding). Other than that, stress level was lower than expected! Here are some screenshots.
While I have not yet read everything, does anyone know how yokers are supposed to report issues and capture video? The visualizations are above the yoke and not on the main screen. I also wonder if there is a way to move the visualizations to the larger main screen, like the 3/Y?

Lastly, and surprisingly, the 2021.36 Yoke improvements update WAS NOT included in this update, sadly.

More to come later. Please be sure to update the tracking S/S. I won’t sleep until I see release dates and times next to all who followed the rules and maintained a perfect 100/100 safety score!

Be safe out there!

Figured out how to capture and send video in a yoker mobile… Cumbersome.

You have to open the quick controls screen, by pressing the car icon or swiping the main screen from left to right. Then, you have to find and press the small camera 📷 button up top. Not very safe.

Looking forward to seeing other yoker, and other non yoker reviews and video!

If you intervene in any way, including the accelerator, it gets sent automatically. So I guess you could use the accelerator as the send button. Otherwise, you could send an email.

On the portrait display of my 2019 Model S, the small camera icon is at the top of both the map screen and quick controls. It might be hard to see depending on what's on the map underneath the icon.

The lack of communication from the PR department on anything other than the musical qualities of beenz is UNACCEPTABLE. You should refuse to drive the Beta until you get an apology. ;)

Unless you got a software update, no they have not resulted in any improvement. It just does not work that way. Your car’s behavior is fixed (and paradoxically may be extremely variable)!

At some point, we may see improvements between updates, if Tesla decides to do some iteration of cloud maps.

To the new folks getting added -- Please be VERY vigilant! The system makes a lot of mistakes. But correct it and hit the record button PLEASE!!

I have seen a BIG improvement in intersections it messed up at on MONDAY compared to TODAY on my way to work. So the recordings are helping improve the system. If we all do it religiously over the next few months, wow is all I can say!
don't know if it is recordings or just experience. Data (lots of it) is being uploaded without recordings. Today I went 10 mi round trip to UPS. On the way there there was roadside work and stop and go for the last mile. Disengaged then and hit the button as the MY appeared to really want to close the gap to the car in front me while a tractor trailer was pulling in to the lane (at 5 mph or so). So there is a clip, but I just checked and I've uploaded almost 2G so far today.

I've noticed much smoother stops at places that on day 1 were all of the hard stop to about 30 ft from the line and crawl up to it. Yesterday those were much smoother. Still a bit harder than I'd like but a consistent braking effort and coming to the stop right at the line. I'm pretty sure I haven't hit the button for any of these.

Wife and I took Model Y to favorite pizza place yesterday afternoon (dusk). About 8 miles each way with a couple tricky intersections and a 2 lane round about. Made it with 0 interventions! (and 1 wife squeal) ;-) Car was a bit hesitant entering the round about, but once in, zipped around to our exit without any issue.

Trip back home had two sort of interventions. Taking left turn at light without dedicated turn lane/light (is that called "unprotected"?) I had to help the car along. It was a BIG open intersection, and the car was hanging back a bit before the light. I wanted the car to get into the intersection so it could find an opening and get the left turn in before light turned red, but then I felt like it was going to cut off an oncoming car so had to brake and manually take the left. Probably my fault for not letting the car do its thing, but I wasn't feeling comfortable with the whole thing.

Then the last left into our housing development had a dedicated left turn lane, with a blinking yellow arrow. This light stays green for several minutes at a go for the straight traffic. FSD just sat at the blinking yellow left arrow, un-willing to make the turn. There was no one behind me, so I waited patiently. No other traffic at all, either direction or anywhere in intersection. We just waited. LoL Finally after a couple minutes, I tapped the accelerator and that kicked the car into motion. Not sure if it would have ever gone on its own?

Maybe EM doesn't count it as such but I've count a wife squeal as an intervention. I've only done a 5miler with my spousal intervention specialist and got there with no squeal. I'm sitting on my 100% spousal squeal score at least until 10.3

The car doesn't enter the intersection. It waits at the stop line. Giving it a goose with the accelerator is often taken as an override to go now.

Now I know how the Plaid owners feel about being eligible and not having the beta. I went to the local Tesla Service Center for a hood sensor replacement. My wife drove the car home and when she got home she told me that the car had no Autopilot features at all, let alone FSD beta. I checked all the UI settings (they were good) and tried rebooting with both the car off method and the scroll wheel method. The firmware was still 10.2 and 2021.32.25.

I contacted Tesla service via the app and waited. Then I got a brainstorm. I emailed the FSD beta team and within an hour, they must have sent a signal to the car and reset the FSD. But for a few hours I was ranging from being worried that I was kicked off of the beta to frustrated that I couldn't use FSD. Tesla Service did call back later but they said that didn't have anything to do with resetting the car.

Question on data uploading

Can anyone connect on a 5G wireless? I can't but it might be the router is too far. I can only connect on 2.4. I was thinking that this is kind of stupid with all the data that is being uploaded.
First, you should probably say 5GHz since 5G commonly indicates a cellular technology that you don't appear to be referring to. Second, the distance is most likely the issue, 5GHz doesn't have as much range as 2.4GHz. Third, I'm not sure why some devices have the two networks separate, but others don't. If you had a router that simply advertised one SSID for both networks, the vehicle could automatically switch between the two, and you wouldn't know which one it was on to begin with. Finally, unless you have phenomenal uplink speed with your ISP, being on 5GHz WiFi would likely provide no benefit anyway.

The trouble is with the 5 GHz router band is that the signal doesn't carry anywhere near as far as the 2.4GHz band. Plus, a lot of IOT devices won't connect to the 5 GHz band at all. I basically disabled this band on my routers. A strong 2.4 signal is going to be just as good as a weak 5.

If you happen to find yourself here in St. George before that happens, I’d be happy to take you on an FSD Adventure. Just send me a DM here on the forum.
I will do that. I get there often. If it makes you feel any better, I have been on the Starlink beta most of the year. It has been a rough beta, but things are getting brighter with every launch. I've noticed the same pattern in my M3 OTA updates for two years...rough starts followed by refinements followed by improved experiences...some people prefer not to see the sausage made...I quite enjoy it...

FYI, Beta absolutely does not see dips, lol. I let it go a little bit too far to see if it would slow down, and nope! Hit my brakes a little late and got a brief scrape sound.
Just woke up 30 minutes ago, and yes, I see I have it. Installing now! Has there been any public comments/tweets from EM or the media about today's unannounced release to yokers and others silently excluded on Monday? When I went to bed last night, all the talk was about the next (2nd) wave being 10.3 to the "99/100" people a week from today.
Damn. I was hoping you didn’t just to see an even more epic meltdown about having to wait a little longer, lol.

I put a wifi mesh next to my car and wall connector, getting 144 mbps up and down connected via 5ghz wifi

Yesterday I disabled FSD Beta and drove on AP to see how it handles the one downhill road where FSD Beta frequently slows down a lot..

AP gave me FWD. That would explain why FSD Beta would slow down. This is a winding downhill road - so either vehicles coming in the opposite direction or driving towards the hill makes it freakout.

This used to happen earlier in AP - but not in the last year atleast. Not sure whether its a Vision problem or the 10.2 planner problem. The car needs to recognize that the road is winding and suppress such FCW.

Anyone with a Y - but not FSD Beta - who has similar issue ?
