Matrix Headlights on LR Y?

But I assume I (and others) have Matrix lights on my MY as they spell TESLA during a light show. So if they can do that then I am guessing it’s a software update that is required?
We are still waiting for that, haven’t heard of any plans on enabling the matrix features(zone dimming, etc). They were just allowed in the USA back in Feb 2022 so maybe they are working on it.

Right now we just have a good bright light but they haven’t been put to use with their full potential.

You can see the break sometime around NF56X where they switched back to LED headlights, and then reintroduced them when I assume stock of headlights were low during the Q4 push.

I think what we're seeing is that different assembly lines will either have matrix or no matrix. Each assembly line would be assigned a VIN range to assemble, which explains why some ranges have matrix and some don't.

For now, it looks like the most recent VINs will have matrix, but it's impossible to know for sure without more data points.

F629 has Matrix

This all reminds me of a major mess Nissan created 20 years ago... They offered the Maxima with standard and HID headlights. The headlights were easy to remove and swap to upgrade cars with standard headlights. So... Maxima HID headlight theft became a major issue for the cars. I hope that we do not see a run of Tesla Model Y matrix headlight thefts if they are an easy retrofit like the Maxima's were... That might suck.

you can add PF630 to the list, mine has matrix lights

Can you post some pics of the new camera housing?

Sure; but tomorrow when it’s light out.🙂
Checking in here, have yet to see any Model Y with the new camera housing. Post pics?

New cameras on the fenders, with concentric rings around the lens:

Thanks. My November 21st, 2022 build and December delivered MYP has the older cameras apparently.
I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. Although my Model 3 has the newer style, I haven't been able to discern any perceivable difference or improvement. My old M3P had the blinker-flash-at-night problem, but that was rectified years ago with the older style.

When we had a loaner M3LR, that blinker flash at night problem was crazy bad to the point where it was useless to use those camera.
