Yes we both ordered in Oct 2020, you have arachnids and I have 19's. Both FSD. Both black interior. Both RN1141. Same delivery point. This will be interesting. Although after seeing darker wheel covers for 19's, I'm hoping i'm in that batch if it doesn't take too much longer.
What's this about darker wheel covers? I definitely want dark wheels, but want 19's as well. I was planning on powder coating mine.

Made it to June but finally broke. Ordered LR in Feb. It was a reach for us money wise, but we refinanced the house to get my wife her forever car. Nursed her Camry hybrid along, got the Tesla wall charger installed. Tried to hang in. Hyped myself up into stretching for the Plaid as it became clear they were prioritized. Realized $25k more (subtracting FSD) was not an option IRL. Saw all the LR models in the flyover parked, dust covered...one even had the door open. We are in our 50's and even the LR was hard to justify. Really not used to the Tesla sales method and seeing all the cars sitting there gathering dust pushed me over an edge. Good luck to you guys with more youth and more money or maybe we are just not Tesla people. I'll watch the who as an observer and you guys will all move up in the line on our cancelled order (1144..) Put $400 into the Camry for a new battery and pushing 175,000 miles!

The majority of all the cars we have seen in the storage lot seem to be missing the carbon fiber spoiler.
  • Do you guys think these cars are Plaid’s with missing carbon fiber due to shortages?
  • Or, do we think they are unfinished LR cars that are still missing parts?
Edit:
We know the existing Model S carbon fiber spoiler is still available in Tesla’s online shop. So, if it is a carbon fiber spoiler shortage, the new Plaid version would most likely need to be different than the one in the shop.
It's not a CF shortage as in the raw material. It would be specific to each piece of the dash, etc. They don't start each car build with a sheet of CF and resin.

Just checked through the flyover video from June 5th. 3:59 on the video where we see the crimson color, behind it is a white and black plaid as you can see the CF spoiler. No red calipers, at least not what I can see.....but CF is on the car. So they most likely won’t be installing at dealership.....?....

They really struggled with fitment of spoilers on the 3's that were installed after the fact in service. I doubt they will do that again.

From that picture, looks like the supply chain issues are Red Paint, White Paint, Carbon Fiber spoilers & White interiors. Damnit.
Not sure its really white paint. I'd think its that they want to prioritize higher margin vehicles since they are really behind on S deliveries and need to have a profitable quarter. There are whites but probably because they are Plaid / arachnids / FSDs.

Just got back from visiting my local Maryland Tesla store.
1) They expect to get a few deliveries of cars this month.
2) Many of the early cars will have silver wheels.
3) Most, but not all, of the early deliveries will be plaid.
4) FSD doesn't do anything to my order other than cost me $10,000 so the car can back out of the garage by itself, find me in the parking lot (I'm really going to do that?), and at some point recognize stop signs and traffic lights. I can't ever imagine self driving in Baltimore. Our hands must be glued to the wheel (or yoke) for quite a while.

And now for the bad news....despite a mid-February order, I shouldn't expect my MS LR before October.

Account currently shows blank delivery.

I think they are just messing up the webpage tonight. They'll fix it when they see what they did. Just look at these two photos. Red calipers on LR and black on Plaid. I think they just got their wires crossed.

They updated this photo and now both images show black calipers. Looks like this may be for real.

That is not an accurate statement.

“There is global shortage of carbon fibre, with composites factories all over the world having to cope with rationing of the fibres that go into making carbon fibre. This is due to the expansion of the Chinese economy, the building of the Airbus A380 and Boeing’s 7E7 Dreamliner, top-secret US air force projects, and the proliferation of windfarms across Europe. Every windfarm blade of 50m or more is made of carbon fibre. Shorter blades can make do with cheaper, heavier glass fibre.

Edit: New article reference

Instead of some pauper industries – such as the bike industry – being denied access to the raw materials, the main Japanese suppliers of the specialist Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibres have restricted supply across the board.”

I'm sorry you couldn't hang in with us but you make the right decisions based on your own circumstances. I'm still buckled in for this rollercoaster ride. Hopefully the Model S or perhaps another Tesla is in your future.
