Wiki Model S Delivery Update

There is a Sig #1299 with a VIN (668) and reported delivery window of 10/20-11/2. Edit: As Larry pointed out, the highest sequence number we know for Sigs is 1353. I've been seeing some issues with TX law that's causing delays for deliveries there, so I wouldn't take that as guidance on when you'll see your R.

Since they just built the 1000th body this weekend and are at a rate of over 200 per week, that means you should be hearing from Tesla late next week or early the following week. They're almost out of Signatures to give delivery windows to!
Yea, good summary. 75 more to notify (and some may already have been notified.
I'm not sure how the Texas thing will impact me. Hard to believe they'd just hold all future deliveries while that issue sorts itself out...it could stretch out for months. I hope your projection of my hearing from them by next week is accurate. I hate to get the car in December, it's so cold and ugly here then, but so be it.

I actually asked them not to tell me if my truck had GPS. We may be on the same truck, although that would put my car a little ahead of schedule. Not that I'm complaining if it is :)

But Josh,

Your position has consistently been that Tesla needs to do a better job of communicating. Now, that you have the option for better communication of delivery you're going to pass on it?

Just kidding.

I sincerely hope your car is on Keith's carrier.

Larry

Could you please be specific with this statement? I have seen no "issues" other than not being able to sell them within state borders. Again, if you have specifics, please post.

I could be completely wrong, but I swear I saw some stuff being posted here and on the official forums about TX being more difficult. I could be mis-remembering, though! I'm wrong sometimes.

It's more difficult as far as paperwork goes because the purchaser has to take delivery from the transport company and has to take the papers to the DMV themselves, but delivery or production time isn't longer.

Re: Texas

Factually, one owner (not on this forum) completed paperwork sent to him by the Delivery Specialist, who handled the registration and paperwork for him. I assume a notary was involved. He received his plates and registration by FedEx prior to the car arriving. He slapped the plates on it and drives it. Only caveat (and I have mentioned this to him) is this method garnered him a registered vehicle without being TX inspected (a very difficult thing to accomplish). I assured him that he should do a safety inspection as soon as he can in order to avoid the inevitable.

So it actually is a good thing, as one does not have to attend the DMV oneself. Not really an issue. Simply a different workflow

I am so glad that you mentioned the safety inspection. It is something that is always done at the Texas dealership...and the owner doesn't even think about it. So...I'll have to get it right after delivery. Tesla is taking care of my registration with DMV for me. They have requested a copy of my driver's license and insurance card from other vehicles so that they can get it registered for me.

Ladies & Gentlemen, THE EAGLE HAS LANDED! Michael, my DS delivered my GORGEOUS Model S today at 9:35AM (35 minutes ahead of schedule!) He spent the next 3 1/2 hours going over everything. Afterward, we took him to lunch and treated him to the world's best tri-tip BBQ at Wood Ranch. I won't bore you with all the usual accolades and surperlatives. Just let me say that EVERYTHING you have read and heard is TRUE! Unbelievable car! This does, indeed change everything. Pix to follow, as soon as I'm able to wipe this Tesla Grin off my face.......

Sig Performance #442 St Louis
Got update yesterday from Delivery Experience Specialist "I was able to get an updated delivery window for your Model S. It's between Nov. 7 and Nov. 21. "
Car has been given a Vin #817 ( number is much longer so I am assuming that everyone keeps referring to the last three numbers )
Originally was given between 10/18/12 and 11/1/12 before the approximately two week set back.
Just keeping you all posted so we are all able to watch the flow. (The flow of delivered fun)

Wow, that is eerily similar to my update yesterday: Sig Perf #414 in Raleigh, got VIN 814, both your original and revised delivery windows match mine!

Makes me wonder if the truck to Raleigh goes through St Louis!
