Got my car last night at SoDo! They were clearly busy and were running a little behind, but the guy actually sounded surprised that they were “almost caught up”. My appointment was at 6:30, not sure how late they were going to be open, but by the time we were leaving around 8 I think they were winding down.

As with Tifighter, the detail job could have been better. There were a number of spots on the outside with some adhesive residue, and some on the rear seats as well which looked like fingerprint-like slightly dark splotches. But they cleaned them all off. Otherwise the inside and out looked great as far as I could tell, I could see any signs of paint issues at all. We’ll see what the detailer at Accutint sees when I get it over there. Bringing a flashlight was a great idea, by the way.

The one complaint I had/have was that the panel gap between the trunk and the rear quarter panels is very uneven. It’s closer than other gaps on one side, and way farther on the other (probably a centimeter or so). At first when I mentioned it the guy said that sounded easy to fix. But then after I’d signed everything he said it was probably within factory spec before even looking at it, then when he looked at he said “yeah they’ll probably just say that’s within spec”. It’s not the end of the world, but I am going to call today and try to get an appointment set up for them to adjust the trunk lid alignment.

Otherwise, very solid delivery experience. I’m really happy with the car too, though I’ve barley gotten to drive it since we had an event to get to afterward. I’ll be taking it on a drive today though and will probably test out the Lynnwood supercharger just to make sure my unlimited deal is working.

For reference:
No reservation or previous ownership
Test drove P3D+ on 9/5 at UVillage, and again on 9/15
Ordered 9/16 (AWD, Blue, Black int, 18s, EAP). ETA was Nov-Jan
Changed 9/25 to P3D- (while simultaneously reaching out to local sales guy about inventory cars)
Changed 9/26 to P3D+ with white interior, that came in that morning, delivery immediately set for 9/28
9/28 took delivery!

My delivery gauntlet has finally ended.

I checked in 45 minutes early and waited 3 hours before we started doing paperwork and I started my inspection and delivery checklist. At least they had Costco cookies, locally sourced cold brew (!!), and other snacks. A food truck was outside for those who were getting hungry and wanted heavier fare.

My wait was definitely tempered by my excitement, however the check-in people gave the option of picking up the car with only an hour wait if you postpone the detailing. I did not, I wanted to drive off in a shiny black car and for that, I had to suffer with everyone else. The cars were moving from the old Sears (staging area) and being detailed at the old Bellevue SC on 18th. Finally, around 5:30pm, my name was called to complete paperwork.

I signed all but the last page in the folder the DA had. I asked to see the car before signing the final "delivery confirmation" paper and they had no problem with that. She was very patient and the whole experience post-wait did not feel rushed at all. The car itself was virtually perfect. No panel gap issues, no headlight or taillight misalignment, no seals issue, no black goop, and very very minor paint issues which I summed to be within spec for any black car. The seals in the trunk were just slightly dusty and there were a few fingerprints, residual wax, and smudges on the interior glass, but otherwise flawless. No model car in the glovebox or center console, but I didn't reserve in store so I suppose that's by design.

After completing my inspection, the delivery adviser that did my paperwork handed me off to another DA to give me a 10-minute trainer for my car, probably for legal reasons. I sat in my car for the first time and hilariously said "Is this even happening? This is my car?" The DA quipped that many other new owners say the exact same thing.

Interestingly enough, the Monroney sticker found in the trunk had "AWD Dual Motor" across the top but the "as configured" section on the right section said "Model 3 Long Range Rear Wheel Drive." Huh. I triple confirmed that it was in fact a P3D-. Also, the red underline on the screen and subsequent butt dyno when I peeled out of the SC concurred that as well. The car was probably a Dual Motor car that so happened to have been built with the binned hardware but was flashed to a Performance version to match it to me. Just a guess.

EAP was properly activated and calibrated in 15 minutes. Mobile app works flawlessly and without interruption. P3D- is ungodly fast even after 75 mph. So far I'm getting atrocious efficiency, but flooring it at every opportunity isn't helping. I smoked a BMW 340i xDrive on my way back home too. The 30 minutes that I drove it responsibly on the highway resulted in a pretty sweet 220 Wh/mi with A/C on. Today I take off my aero covers, install u/kenriko's matte black console wrap, and go through my personal wax routine.

Thank you Tesla, this is an amazing product. For everyone else, hang in there! The long, long wait virtually evaporates as soon as you see the "T" on the steering wheel in front of you.

do you have other things in order ? like mvpa on account page, vin on account page ?
you should call your adviser or the delivery center for confirmation

All good on the VIN and the account. My car was in Tacoma where most of the cars are held before it's sent to the delivery centers (or homes) the last I checked in with my delivery advisor on Friday. I don't have his number to reach out to and have only got his deskphone number - where he is obviously not available considering the time.

wow they must have lot of hold spots around here. the sears parking lot in bellevue and now tacoma. Hope you get your car soon.

I took delivery of my AWD 2 weeks ago now at Seattle SoDo. There was no one there when I arrived that morning besides me because I was the day's first delivery. When I asked, the delivery guy said they had just opened up for the first time to start doing Sunday deliveries. He was a nice guy who also admitted he had only been hired a few weeks ago. And then he forgot to take my payment for the balance of the car (I paid in cash) and he came running back out to find me just I was getting ready to drive away.

They are probably getting killed right now this last weekend of the quarter. Please try and be patient with them, they are working as hard as they can.

Totally! My Delivery Specialist has been doing what he can while being remote in Nevada since it's a home delivery, and I know everyone swamped - they're definitely doing the best they can. Hopefully when the dust settles, they are able to step back and review the lessons learnt and improve their logistics. As a start, they should get a better tracking system on their website for Tesla Direct, Home Delivery and SC deliveries 'coz the website is pretty misleading now and the status is most often reflecting wrong information over the last few days.

I posted about my delivery experience at Bellevue here
Less than 48 hrs before delivery, no MVPA

If you're picking up at the 20th street location in Bellevue: make sure you look under the front of your car!

They are using the Sears parking lot as a staging area for the cars and driving them over to the delivery center for your appointment. I observed at least one delivery driver driving an M3 pretty fast down 20th and then taking the turn into the road heading to the delivery center way too hard and fast, scraping the front on the incline in the process. In fact I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened to mine.

So if you check one thing at delivery, my advice would be to get down and check under your front.

Just had my 4th re-schedule cancelled. Tesla called and said Bellevue, WA is closed tomorrow (on a Monday). When I asked why she said because they worked so hard this weekend and need a day off. /sigh

6 total appointments now, next one on 10/4. Wondering if I can get a special prize if I get to double digits.

Ouch, I feel for you. Were your delays all short at least or any long ones?
