These are the new wireless v4 Superchargers!
The pedestals can be installed in 1 day.
Maybe I just missed it, but where did they install the panel/switchgear cab??
This is the first I have seen with the separate smaller transformers (I guess that's what they are). The switchgear box looks smaller in this configuration, but I guess that is it next to the Supercharger cabinets and the transformer (doesn't show well in the last set of pictures).
Others more familiar with the engineering of this style can better answer... I don't know the significance of these small transformers.
Sorry, I've been asleep for a while, but...
Don't they fence in the $200K of equipment anymore? I've never seen it sitting in the open.
A lot of equipment to be running loose outside of its corral, potentially getting into mischief.
I thought they penned it all in to protect the equipment and keep the curious from zapping themselves.
I *believe* the smaller transformers are autotransformers and allow (manual) voltage adjustment on the incoming circuits. Hard to be sure without seeing them up close.
Thanks. So why would they be needed in some installations and not others? More variation in the feed to the main transformer?
Well I went by today (still no activity) and here is a pic of the small transformer label (there are 6 of these, one for each back end cabinet):
The label on the back end Tesla cabinet looks like others I have seen, just a fairly new manufacturing data
What are the charging options around Witchita Falls. I will be there in nov at Sheppard for 6 weeks. And I’m thinking about driving my M3 from Vegas.....But I won’t have anywhere to plug-in and charge on base
Fair number of options, checkout plugshare. I've used the destination charger in Vernon a couple of times. If you are spending the night there its free, otherwise $10.
Also I friendly RV park that has plugs for a small fee.
Within short walk of Walmart and food places.
There are RV hook ups in Lawton at the casino; they just ask that you come in for a bit. Of course that might cost ya more than the RV park mentioned above.
On base, bring an extension cord. Installations have yet to catch up with this fad.
Yeah someone said they say someone doing that on reddit
Yeah seen that that might end up being my option charge up once a week or so
No on-base charging, I had to utilize the Best Western 7mi north. To compensate them, I stayed at the hotel a few nights.
The pedestals usually go in first. Yet Alvarado, TX and Medford,ME show nearly complete installations with no pedestals.
There must be something delaying the pedestals, perhaps they will be using v3 pedestals with the narrower cables.
These aren’t the only construction locations this summer that we saw this on. There seems to be something systemic with pedestal supply going on.
If you pop over to the Davidson SK thread you’ll see they’re middle of V3 gear (!) install w/o the pedestals in place.
Maybe all this will be up and running by November....and I won’t have to worry about charging
Well went by a couple of hours ago, still no activity... They are in danger of tumbleweeds rolling by soon!
