For those interested regarding trade in’s, i emailed Tesla and got a reply.

Hi Turbice,

Thank you for your email and congratulation on your Model 3.

Due to volume we’re only able to offer trade in valuations to customers once they’ve placed an order and we get closer to their delivery date.

Trade in valuations are only valid for 30 days however we will reach out around 1 month before your delivery date to get information for your registration, delivery, finance and trade-in.

This will be done by your Delivery Specialist and at that point they should be able to advise on a trade in value for you. I would recommend trying to sell your car privately in the meantime as you will get more on the private market. We don’t sell used cars and would simply shop your car to the highest wholesale bidder for you.

Reading between the lines, it's a reluctant courtesy service. Still, my 16 year old trade in has little residual value so it's a no brainer, not going to trade hours of my time letting people test drive it for $500 more

Doesn't matter much how old your trade-in is - the value of my 3 year old Audi was falling so fast that if I waited for a private sale rather than trading it in on my S, any advantage I might have gained would have been swamped. Certainly if I had waited till the 3 came out I would have lost most of it.

With my history, I'd probably turn that $3,000 into $2,500 in no time...

I couldn't see myself going to a supercharger more than twice in the first 6 months given the existing infrastructure in WA. So I'd probably be looking at adding about 250km range on the first go (home -> Eaton) then 350km range on the way back past. If jontyh's figures are correct, I'm probably missing out on around $40 worth - or at worst around $70 using PJF000's numbers.

Now I don't feel so annoyed!
If a new buyer were to use your referral code you’ll get credits for supercharging
