Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Hi there, I'm new to this forum and been following this thread for a few days after the VIN tracker spreadsheet came out. Thought I'd let you all know just got a call from Tesla telling me my invoice will shortly show up and that the 'estimate' to receive our car is about 2 weeks! I'm in Perth so will be the last of the first batch to receive. Realistically I think it will be more like 3 weeks but its getting close now. VIN 5YJ3F7EB1KF4434XX, reserved 1/4/16, ordered 31/5/19 No changes. Performance w/Performance pack

This is on the official rvts data. It doesn’t matter what the European or the UK specs say.

The model 3 performance + in Australia can only tow 500kg legally.

This also shows the P- is 10kw less powerful from what I can see.

I think you'll find that the variants are; SR(+&std), P3 (+&-), LR RWD, LR AWD, so the dual motor AWD is restricted to 350kW and both configs of the P3 have the 360kW.

If they were to ever get flat, they would be unable to use your solar to re-start too as they need mains to start it all off.

For those interested, see this thread where I've set up a generator to automatically charge my powerwall when it detects the grid is down and powerwall drops below a set charge.

Air sealing, super insulation, triple pane windows, high efficiency heat / Air Conditioning, set back thermostats, LED lights, Solar panels, battery storage and an electric vehicle charger. These all can make a difference depending on the specifics of the building.

Some of these will have a high upfront cost and hence a very long payback. I did some no-brainers at my place;
- LED downlights (9W instead of 60, over 20 of the damned things!)
- Replaced stuffed HWS with solar HW
but things like triple glazing and other building works are pretty pricey unless you're doing a new build or extensive renovations, and/or planning to keep the house a long time.

I notice nobody seems to be banging on about standby power any more, so I won't either :)

You're pretty much identical to me except you've got performance, same dates, same batch of vins, also in Perth. It will be good to compare the difference between the two of us to see if Performance/SR+ makes any difference. What colour did you get?

So I just got off the phone with Tesla (checking my account was all in order as mine still says 'Credit Application Pending' and I was becoming concerned that there was an issue), apparently that's totally fine to still be showing up even though I'm all approved.

She said it looks like it's just gone through early this morning, and that there appears to be movement on my account on their end.

She also said that it's quite possible that (take note of quotes) "Delivery specialists may be contacting you by the end of the week".
Take that with a grain of salt I guess based on all the different rumours we have heard, but hey it's still something to add to the rumour mill.

Just got a call from my delivery specialist, advised 2 weeks for delivery to Adelaide for my SR+ looking forward to joining the Tesla family finally :)
As in they just told you, you'll have your car in 2 weeks, or they're just advising you it'll take an extra 2 weeks to get it to you?

More details man! lol!

Deep Blue Metallic. Ya, would be good to compare. Even though I'm not a member of AEVA or the Men's Shed I seem to have been roped into bringing the car to the Mosman Park men's shed fair on 10th Nov as they are having an electric car show and tell with a variety of different electric vehicles. There is also an earlier show and tell that these guys want me to attend but I don't know the date yet (once I know can let you know). Maybe one of these events would be a good place to compare and let the public see as well.

Hi there - Perth here also, and with a probably near-sequential VIN - 4434** P+, similar dates. No phone call yet, but am hoping we're all on the same truck!

Small number of samples, but appears phone calls are going to people with the lowest source-code VINs?

I feel like "two weeks" is code for "you definitely won't be getting an August delivery, expect sometime in September".

Also the spreadsheet data is interesting. Only 5 P3- cars with source-code VINs for Brisbane. I like my odds of ending up with a car if Brisbane gets any before September. Only 3 early reservation holders ahead of me (that we know of). :)
