The next big milestone for FSD is 11. It is a significant upgrade and fundamental changes to several parts of the FSD stack including totally new way to train the perception NN.

From AI day and Lex Fridman interview we have a good sense of what might be included.

- Object permanence both temporal and spatial
- Moving from “bag of points” to objects in NN
- Creating a 3D vector representation of the environment all in NN
- Planner optimization using NN / Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS)
- Change from processed images to “photon count” / raw image
- Change from single image perception to surround video
- Merging of city, highway and parking lot stacks a.k.a. Single Stack

Lex Fridman Interview of Elon. Starting with FSD related topics.

Here is a detailed explanation of Beta 11 in "layman's language" by James Douma, interview done after Lex Podcast.

Here is the AI Day explanation by in 4 parts.

Here is a useful blog post asking a few questions to Tesla about AI day. The useful part comes in comparison of Tesla's methods with Waymo and others (detailed papers linked).

I am really upset. I accidentally hit install from 11.3.6 after pausing the subscription to jump onto it from 11.4.4 and now I’m going back to it.

I hope next is 11.4.8.

If any Tesla engineer is reading this, please base 11.4.8 on 2023.26.11+ thx.
Why are you upset? You are getting 11.4.4. 11.4.7 is still 2023.7.30, so you may not have ever gotten 11.4.8.

For people on 11.4.6, how big of an improvement was 11.4.6 compared to 11.4.4?

I've had my share of issues with 11.4.4, but I've seen a lot of user posts on social media about how the entire 11.4.x branch should be shelved because it's so terrible, but I never really ran into anything terrible that FSD hasn't already been doing since FSD 10.x

What are "Safety Score people"?
Just to differentiate from the small group of people who got FSD Beta before Safety Score was introduced -- not that you need to have Safety Score now. More generally, 11.4.7 has already gone to a slightly larger rollout now ~2.5% than 11.4.6's ~1.5% rollout, so hopefully that indicates Tesla might be more confident of the new version's quality to expand rollout faster.

I thought it was a regression. It exhibited the same issue with turn/merge lanes and also the creep was broken where the car wants to jump out into busy intersections. M3P thought it was an improvement.
