Wiki Model S Delivery Update

One would have to assume that it is a regular car carrier (hopefully covered), which would hold more than one car. I know of a few people delayed in Chicago on the way to Montreal.

Sgutz, I am excited for you and I hope other owners don't have to go through what you went through. Please keep us posted of your delivery and I'll let you know when my P85D arrives in Central Ohio from Chicago (aka "the black hole for MS's"). I hope you get some nice swag from your DS for the delay you had to go through.

Happened to be at the Decatur, GA location today having the tires rotated on my MS. Spoke to a delivery specialist who told me he had 100+ deliveries to do this month from this location! I did a quick head count and there are over 30 cars sitting in the lot right now. Lost of 70D's... Looks like the sunset of the GA Tax incentive ending June 30 is really ramping desire for deliveries in June ($5k incentive going away).

I guess that's good news Buzzz as after 26 days of looking at "Your Model S is in Transit" I'd be happy to see anything . Seeing as I'll be on a full month transit to NYC area and Canada East Coast seem to be waiting around the same amount of time, then I'd have to imagine there's going to be some major delivery #'s miss for the 2nd Quarter. The macro view doesn't affect me, as all I really want is my car and don't own any stock, but the trend seems to be anything meant for the east coast of North America can't be built any later than May 29th for delivery in the 2nd quarter.

So no 2Q quarter end production/delivery ramp-up... at least not for customers around here.

If the logistics has really been outsourced to a 3rd party(forwarder using trains) there will be no way to address/fix this in the short term.

That should make some HQ bean counters upset as shipped numbers will be missed for a pretty dumb reason.

Status changed yesterday from "In Transit" to "Your model S is being prepared for pickup or delivery" and pickup changed from "June" to "Late May", weird.
Still no news from my DS.

I was at the Toronto Lawrence location checking the lot on Monday June 8th to see if my car had arrived when a delivery truck arrived. I spoke to the driver who told me that 2 truck loads (6 cars on each truck) were headed to Montreal on Tuesday. So I suspect that your car. and maybe Sgutz car as well, was on those trucks.

As for me, I am picking up my new P85D tomorrow at 11am just in time to take it on a road trip to Ottawa this weekend :)

Yes, it was on that truck. It arrived in Montreal yesterday (Tuesday) and delivery is tomorrow PM. Can't wait, the day at work will be very long.

I know how you feel. I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep tonight. The anticipation is off the charts.

I've been talk to the DS in Montreal and my car is there now, so I guess it was indeed on the same truck. I could pick it up Saturday but I'm just going to get them to deliver it to Ottawa next week

What part of Ottawa are you in? I live in Whitby but will be in Ottawa with my P85D this weekend. A buddy of mine is calling me crazy, but the first thing I'm doing after delivery is taking the car on a 700km road trip :) Can't wait.

So if you see an Ocean Blue/Deep Blue P85D ripping around Ottawa this weekend, that's me!!!

The status of my order reverted back from "The Tesla Factory is building your Model S" to "Your Model S has entered the production queue at our Factory in Fremont, California". Does anyone know what this could possibly mean? Is Elon about to announce a Tesla time machine?

Happened to me (and many other folks) - appears as though when it finishes production they put it in the queue status until is starts shipping, mine was there for about 24 hours (not that I was checking or anything).

Yes mine and many others did the same. Mine has been that way for 2 days now.

it means it is done with production and sitting in the lot. It is waiting to be driven over to train to be loaded. You'll switch to in transit when someone drives it over and loads it onto train. They prioritize shipments again in this phase so may not work in order expected.

talked to my DS just now and he waked the car up to verify and could see it sitting in lot...

Thanks travwill!

Thanks for the prompt comment, "travwill"!

Got an update from my DS...

"The train hauling your Model S is currently at a rail compound near Clovis, New Mexico. It will soon be rolling again with another stop before finally reaching the Chicago area rail compound. Once in Chicago the rail cars will be unloaded and your Model S will be transported to the Columbus service center."

Status was changed to "In Transit" on June 4. The Model S has taken 9 days to get to New Mexico. It has been awesome to see how fast the MS was built and my excitement is being curtailed by the rail transport. I have heard the not-so-good stories about MS's entering into Chicago and falling into the "black hole." Wish there was a way I could track where the MS is at without bugging the DS. I am too used to tracking packages and have read in the TMC forums that DS's can ping/track the MS during transit.

Here is what my DS said: "Until your Model S is accepted by you at delivery the Remote Access is disable. We can only track it internally."

I wonder how long it will take to get to Chicago?

Patience is a virtue. *SIGH*

Hang in there. Once in Joliet (Chicago) yard it can leave pretty quickly or wait a week I was told. That is up in the air as well depending on when it arrives, what else is there, etc. It's a large yard with scheduled unloads, etc. They can't just enter the site and move cars.

I feel kinda fortunate now that mine was tossed on a truck and driven to Chicago in just a few days, but then again everything before this went really slow - e.g. 4 weeks before build start, build for a week, sat at Tesla factory a while, etc. So shipping was sped up for me to make it on time still.

Enjoy! Time will fly by before you know it!
