Bay Area Resident
Model S75
Order Placed-8/12
Order Confirmed-8/15
Production-still scheduled for production
DS-aiming for delivery 9/26 (Fremont)
APH2 still listed
Really starting to womder when the Bay Area Tesla resident's cars are gonna go into production. Would have to think it would be by this Monday/Tuesday.
So I was scheduled to take delivery of my new S75D tomorrow; it was supposed to arrive at the delivery center yesterday. So yesterday evening I get an email from my DS (who has in general been terrible at communication -- seems par for the course with Tesla) telling me it's been "delayed in transit" and will now arrive at the DC next Saturday. They need a day to do whatever they do to it and they don't deliver on Sundays, so that means Monday delivery for me -- almost a one week delay. So frustrating!
The question that keeps rattling around my brain is -- what kind of "delay in transit" could happen such that (a) my delivery specialist didn't know until it was delayed until the day it was supposed to show up at the delivery center, and (b) the delay was a whole week rather than just a day or two. It seems unlikely for both (a) and (b) to be true. I suspect my DS knew much sooner, or could have known if he'd been paying attention, but just didn't bother.
Can anybody who actually understands how they transport cars comment on what might cause something like this?
Details:
Model S 75D, delivery in PA
Ordered 8/4, confirmed 8/7, prod start 9/1, prod end ??? (MyTesla didn't update to prod complete for a long time; way after my DS gave me a delivery date, so I don't know when it actually left the factory).
Scheduled to arrive at DC 9/17, delayed to 9/23.
So a possible hint is that while my DS told me it was prod complete and in transit a couple of weeks ago, the MyTesla page didn't actually update to prod complete until sometime in the past week (didn't notice exactly when the change happened). Maybe my DS was just full of it all along and the 9/17 date was just bogus from the start? Given my experience with this DS, I wouldn't be surprised.

Similar story for me. 75D coming to Louisiana through Houston. Prod 8/26-??? it never updated. I called them after 10 days and they said it was finished and on rail to Houston, est delivery end of last week. Then I get a call friday (end of last week) telling me my car is still in Freemont! My page said in production up until that phone call friday and now delivery estimate is 2 weeks later than the original. Also scheduled to arrive 9/17 and now delayed until 9/23ish. Same time frame delivery delay. It has been rather embarrassing at work because everyone knows the car is coming and I get asked every day! Im tired of making excuses for Tesla. If I had test driven a Hyundai last week the salesperson/dealership would be harassing me constantly to buy a car! Now that Tesla has my money, all I hear are the chirping of crickets and a rare phone call with an update that is usually some guess about delivery. Im sure getting the car will make it worth it, but I tell you this, in about 5 or 6 years when the market is more open, I will NOT forget how frustrating the pre-delivery experience has been. I will be happy to know that I have options in this segment going forward.
That blows and i would hate that. Im not making excuses for any of the tesla people but they are extremely overwhelmed and busy at the end of every quarter plus houston did get wrecked with that whole hurricane thing so theres a lot of S going on.

Got a call from my DS a few hours ago that my car went into Production Today. We set a tentative delivery (pickup) for 9/28. I am flying to San Jose from LA to take delivery. Wanted a road trip and also wanted to ensure I had best chance to take delivery before 10/1 for the .99% interest rate.
