You only MAKE $$ when you sell, so...have you actually sold TSLA and cashed out some? If so, you got some big capital gains tax, no? Nothing wrong with it either way but just saying. ;) If not, then it's just $$ in your investment account and may likely just stay there and be passed on to your children (assuming you have kids) as part of their inheritance. I mean, I think it's funny when people are like "yeah, I've made soooooo much money on TSLA that I basically bought a new $100k+ Tesla for free" or whatever when poor schlumps like me just pay for mine with cash without selling any stock whatsoever. 😜
I did sell some a few months ago, paid some tax. Later bought back more than I had sold, even after the tax I lucked out and made money on the deal. Believe me, that was not by design. Just dumb luck.

Seems like only yesterday when everyone was sure they weren’t getting their cars, ever. And that Tesla was only producing 5 a month or some such nonsense. And that the yoke would never be approved and likely kill anyone who drove one even an inch. And that we were blatantly robbed of range. And that 19’s would be cancelled because they lose money when compared to the 21’s. And and on and on. And now we’re all just so joyfully blissful that maybe Tesla doesn’t hate their customers after all. Who would have ever thought we’d ever advance so much? 😶

I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I snatched one of those inventory cars, it’s a MF438 and I think it was released from the factory on August 2nd.

It’s in Charlotte, NC, so I was thinking of flying and driving home. I tried calling the Tesla Store, and they didn’t answer. I want to see how they handle the sales tax. It’s $500 to have it shipped to Florida.

This is my fifth order, I canceled two previous ones. I only ordered to keep @MarcG company, and to boost $TSLA. Actually, it was pure FOMO. I really don’t need a new car, I just want one.

“Oops, I did it again..” Now I understand what Britney was singing about.

There’s a red plaid but black ebony in LA. It’s tempting. I hope someone else takes it before I fold.

Aww thanks @Ormond ! Welcome to the club.. though we might soon join another famous club run by @Leodoc :p

Yeah, the Plaids are flowing this week. I just picked up my Plaid order today with 5 miles on it (white, black interior, wood, 21" wheels), which is from the 438 VIN batch that was built August 5th.

As a longtime Model S owner, I know all too well about Tesla's initial build quality issues when a redesign comes out. My early review of a refresh LR probably provides some insight about how particular I am about the little details. So I spent three hours (yes, three hours) inspecting every nook & cranny of that car before deciding whether to accept it, as I didn't want any hassles down the road. AND I COULDN'T FIND ONE DAMN FLAW. Seriously. Not even a hairline smudge on the exterior or exterior, or any mechanical issues to note. So my congrats to Tesla on the quality of my build.

As for my forthcoming review of the Plaid, I'll write that up after I get the car back from a full wrap, tint, emblem chrome delete, and ceramic coating. I did a quick test drive right near the Tesla shop before it goes to the detailer, and OMG. I've driven every Tesla, along with other ICE performance cars, and that is absolutely the craziest acceleration I've ever experienced in my lifetime. I felt like I was on the deck of the Enterprise, suddenly thrust into warp speed (sorry, wrong movie).

You have to experience it at least once. Life changing moment!

Wow that is amazing news!! I'm glad to hear the quality bar has been raised. Excited to see what the MF439 and 440 VINs look like.

Side note: I had to laugh at the "69MF" in my one and only VIN so far (Elon's hand is in there somewhere) 😂

It's going to be really hard to avoid saying "5 Yankee Juliet Sierra Alpha 1 Echo 6 9 Mother F... oops I meant Mike Foxtrot" when calling my insurance company later this week.

Where did you take delivery? Did you have a good delivery specialist? If you did, DM me the contact information.

@headcase No, if it was like the Enterprise, which has inertial dampers, you wouldn’t have felt any acceleration!

Got a VIN this morning. EDD Sept 2-10 at Mt Kisco NY. It might actually happen…
Called Tesla yesterday to learn that my car had just left CA and was in Nevada at the time. They were seeing a 9/3 arrival date in NY. I had a 9/4-9/8 EDD in my account.

Today my EDD moved up to Aug 31 - Sept 6. Maybe it's being hauled by a PLAID car carrier.

I agree on all points. My date has held steady at mid October to early November...if I don't get it mid October, Im going to try and delay until January. They need to work some kinks out and I want my damn ANC. I want to know they are going to do it right.

I have an announcement to make…… with all these cars in inventory today, I accepted a match to a white Plaid, black interior, carbon fiber, 19’s. VIN 5YJSA1E60MF439… no price increase. In Temecula, will be transported to Costa Mesa for delivery.
@lbowroom What’s the next digit after the “9”? Just curious how close it is to my 4392xx build. All good with mine.

Yep 4383XX. Nicely built, no big issues, just noticed some fine scratches along the base of the gear selector bar (under the front phone chargers), debating whether it’s worth the time and effort to get it replaced. Software freezes up a fair amount, I expect that’ll improve on future builds (still on 2021.12.4.9)
I have those too (the scratches on the base), but I’m worried they’ll mess something else while fixing the scratches. It’s not horrible, but I do notice it.
