Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I haven't had any calls from delivery specialist. It's sad to see Tesla breaking their promise to the last people that they should be breaking it with

I agree and it’s so frustrating, but clearly they are getting slammed and have next to no experience managing this volume of deliveries. By the responses we are getting, I’d say they don’t have any communications team in Australia because the emails they send are bullshit and it’s clear the delivery specialists don’t have a clue.

Yet, there are so many people who are getting their cars delivered without reservations or later reservations. I even put my order in 31st May (literally, 15-20 mins after receiving the SMS). Yet here we are, I haven't had any calls from delivery specialist. It's sad to see Tesla breaking their promise to the last people that they should be breaking it with. We trusted them and their mission to the point of queuing up early and putting down money to be placedin a digital queue. 3+ years later, to then ignore that queue is frustrating.
Does it really matter if your car is delivered give or take a few weeks?

I lined up nearly 3.5 years ago and would like to order LR AWD with white interior but I can’t. Not yet, at least. So I might be waiting 2, 3 even 6 more months. Who knows?

I find it interesting that Tesla emailed me this:

I think we all know that reservation date, order date and whether you own a Tesla currently, means absolutely nothing. I think Tesla are just doing what any business would be doing and that’s trying to push out as many cars as possible to maximise profits for shareholders, in particular before the end of September.

I think you're also forgetting the fact that the configurations are much different between people. I had no reservation and ordered in June, and have been contacted, but when I look at the spreadsheet there are only 3 orders for a P3D+ with Red and White interior so it's starting to make a bit more sense.

It also says this on the FAQ, it doesn't say specifically that reservation holders come first, only that the priority is based on a few different factors. I suspect that those configurations that are more popular are the ones where they start divvying them up based on reservation date.

This. It is all about production - what was made and matching to that, not the other way around. There are no queue jumpers, despite it looking that way.

Is there anyone who got a hidden VIN a couple of weeks back that there order hasn't progressed since?

As in has it been proved that a hidden VIN means very little? Or does it prove that it's an important step to getting the delivery process started?
I reserved in September 2017 and ordered within 30min of the SMS on 31 May paying cash for 3P-. I had a hidden VIN 4883x which has disappeared. All I've heard officially is 'August'.

Not sure if the photo posted before because it’s not coming up for me but here:

this does not really affect me but there are people who i.e. have had leases run out or who sold their cars or might be not here in september or might have to go on a long road trip in september. Everyone would have been happy if Tesla would have said "estimated delivery: September" and then delivered a bit earlier if possible.

Not having a go at the ones without reservations getting theirs before reservation holders. Not their fault. If I were in their shoes I would be stoked.

My point is that the whole purpose of reservations 3+ years ago was to build a virtual queue of people who would be receiving their cars in what order when it was finally available. There literally was no other purpose to it. For Tesla to then turn around and say that the order is independent of (or at best loosely based on) the reservations is just bullshit.
I am all for Tesla and their mission. I am a shareholder. I'm as much of a fanboy as many of you. I'm not calling them every second day or hassling them about this nor will I mention it to them (let the poor sods do their jobs). I am venting here and not to them. But you can try and doll it up any way you wish, the bottom line is they lied to us about the processing of the virtual queue. I would be in the same place in the current queue had I never placed my reservation 3+ years ago and that, to me, is bullshit.

Incorrect. The entire purpose of the reservation deposits was to generate cash for Tesla. The idea of the virtual queue was to motivate people to provide the cash, but the deposits themselves were all about cashflow.

I’m an early reservation holder. (First of April, 2016.) I’m frustrated that I don’t know when I’ll have my car, especially since it’s likely I’ll be without any car from the 10th of September. Tesla could be doing a lot more to keep us informed. And yes, it’s frustrating - especially in the absence of any other communication - to see “later” orders coming in first. Ultimately, it comes down to communication, and I do mark Tesla harshly on that front.

Of course the cash flow helped, but they were called 'reservations' not donations, or bonds, or stocks, or anything else. The money helped them and to be perfectly honest had I known back then what I now know (that the reservation means nothing when it comes to the order in deliverying cars) I still would have given them two reservations (yes, I have two) because I believe in the company and I know they will use that money to build the business. But that doesn't excuse them for backtracking on their word.

So according to my records I know of 10 Tassie Model 3 orders. Would really like to keep in touch with as many as possible for a meet and greet day. Don't want to out names publicly but initials of the people I know are: HS, GV, DC, ZR, AL, RB, SS, I?, NW, DP. If you are in Tassie with your car on the way and want to be on my list but aren't, please speak up :)

Or if you think one of those initials refers to you but haven't actually placed an order and I've messed it up, please say so :)

Update on earlier vin post. Have added whether any delivery dates have been assigned from a range. Delivery dates have been issued across the first range - from Cap Capricorn

Hi Veda

Just a small thing, but when I just checked the Port Botany arrival website, it has the ANL Warrnambool listed as arriving on 6th September in Sydney. If I read your table correctly, your latest update indicated 8th September arrival for Sydney.

A 48-hour gain for all us poor souls with post 488XXX/pre499XXX VINs - yeah!

While I am as anxious as anyone on this thread about getting my Model 3 asap, I cannot stop thinking that our fretting about all sorts of aspects of the delivery must be the ultimate example of a "first world problem".

I am conscious of some people in this world not knowing when exactly they will get their next meal. I can't really say that I am worse off than any of them.

If you sort @Random206 sheet by the last 6 digits of the VIN you can definitely see the builds were in batches.

I'm pretty excited to see some more delivery dates set in QLD and NSW - we're definitely under-represented so far.
Thanks mate, I've also added some basic counts on a seperate sheet btw, I was looking at doing some charts but got sidetracked. Those numbers should be live, I think...not sure how the form handles new entries into the spreadsheet and whether the spreadsheet will include them or not.

Further to this...please ensure your data is up to date and hit me up if you need your link to edit your input. Just start a conversation with me on here or email [email protected] with your time stamp on the spreadsheet.

Plenty of people with hidden VIN still waiting. I got a 488XXX VIN early on and it hasn’t changed. I’m starting to think bulk of the P- cars aren’t on the first ships and our later numbered VIN’s will turn out to be our real ones.

Yeah I think so too. The spreadsheet shows the majority of us with P3D- in the 48xxxx range, so I'm hanging out for the ANL Warrnambool, a delivery phone call and the long delivery to Perth :/
On the bright side for some people there are some P3D- in the 44xxxx range.
