Is it your job to assess these exception forms, or where are you getting this from?

Having been around when these laws were passed and a couple of mates who tried to get around this. Basically what will happen is you have to document your circumstances in detail, one of my friends was asked to specifically document the times he would leave home for work, couldn’t deviate from this route and would be a huge fine if he did. He had to have a stat dec from the employer. Even if approved It’s not like it suddenly becomes a pass to drive the car. He wasn’t allowed to drive it anywhere except work. They will tell you when, where and how long you can drive it.

Yet people on their L plates can drive whatever they want. Almost a disincentive to get your P plates. I suppose you could argue that the SR+ is only just over the limit and isn't exactly your traditional high powered vehicle. Could also try to get a club license on your car and therefore be exempted from the restrictions.

Ripped straight off Vicroads:

Are there any restrictions for Learner Permit holders?
No, there are no prohibited vehicles for learner permit holders.

Can I drive a probationary prohibited vehicle on the club permit scheme?
Probationary driver licence holders can drive a club permit vehicle unless the vehicle has an engine that has been modified to increase the vehicle's performance (other than a modification made by the manufacture in the course of the manufacture of the vehicle).

I mean the form exists for a reason & there's a bunch of P platers driving around in exempted cars so it clearly can be done regardless of your friends anecdotal experience of not getting exempted.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter much either way to me I was just curious, the girlfriend can either take a chance submitting the form for work purposes if she wants or just wait it out until she's on opens.

Is everyone excited for tomorrow?

Monday. Normally the start of a crappy working week.

Monday for model 3 tesla owners - another chance for the website to be updated.
- another chance for tesla to call us.
- another chance for invoice to come through.

May we all get the calls and invoices this week.

God speed everyone
Oh yeah. Rumour is that deliveries are starting in akl tomorrow.

whats the difference between an L plate and a p plate? i thought l plate you cannot drive by yourself?

Is everyone excited for tomorrow?

Very excited. Am this week expecting...

1. Ship happens- Kota arrives in Sydney, Brotonne arrives in Auckland and Sydney (and ANL Tongala arrives in Oakland)
2. Lots of calls arranging September deliveries. And there will plenty of people still waiting. There is a lot to get through.
3. Lots of invoices going out
4. Delivery trucks transporting a lot out of Autonexus
5. Plenty of Containers delivered to Autonexus
6. Customer Deliveries begin both sides of the Tasman

....and 7. I get a hidden vin ... I’ll give this a 25 % chance. My guess is sometime over the next 4 weeks.

So where would I be using a type 2 to type 2 cable- understanding that a type 2 extension cable is a different beast?

Lots of chargers ( I would argue most of the new ones I've seen in shopping centres etc aside from rapid chargers) don't have cables and have only the type 2 socket for you to BYO.

This video gives you a good example of what they look like:

On your L plate, you must be accompanied by a fully licensed driver. Yet it seems impractical that the less experienced L plate driver can drive whatever they want as opposed to the P plater with 2+ years of experience. Goes to show how much they value supervision.

Is there anyone who got a hidden VIN a couple of weeks back that there order hasn't progressed since?

As in has it been proved that a hidden VIN means very little? Or does it prove that it's an important step to getting the delivery process started?

Plenty of people with hidden VIN still waiting. I got a 488XXX VIN early on and it hasn’t changed. I’m starting to think bulk of the P- cars aren’t on the first ships and our later numbered VIN’s will turn out to be our real ones.

I wouldn’t say the chances of getting this approved are zero, but they are as near to zero as you could get. These approvals are very rare, and the hardship you have to demonstrate would need to show that there is absolutely no other way to get around (bus, taxi, Uber etc).

And if you can afford a $70K+ car, the submission would be looked at with skepticism.

Demo car sleeper spotted nsw. EBO45T. It is from the press car batch.

So closing the demo cars off. We can say there were 20 press/demo cars. 10 Victorian plates, 4 NSW plates, 6 NZ plates.

The cars ranged from vins 409663 - 409683 (not 669). Vin reg May 10. Ship Merkur Ocean June 12 (or Melina week later NZ). Arrive Auckland Jun 8, Arrive Sydney July 12. 1st spotted Sydney about July 19. Auckland about July 22.

The cars are now split around the country as demo vehicles. This bookends the 1st batch.

thh it makes sense that the L drive can drive supercars. I mean, if the owner/proper licensed driver sits in the car they would presumably stop the learner from doing anything stupid.

Got notification from Pepper that finance was approved this morning.

Checked my Tesla account and I've moved on to the Next Steps screen - and I have a VIN!

No reservation, ordered 4 June

I find it interesting that Tesla emailed me this:

the website stated estimated delivery in August, nothing promised to you. We are working to get everyone behind the wheel as soon as possible, and for a majority of owners, that will be in September. All the owners that I have scheduled so far in September have early reservations too, from April and March of 2016. I can see yours is from May 2016, which is quite early, but we did get a lot of orders before then too.

Yet, there are so many people who are getting their cars delivered without reservations or later reservations. I even put my order in 31st May (literally, 15-20 mins after receiving the SMS). Yet here we are, I haven't had any calls from delivery specialist. It's sad to see Tesla breaking their promise to the last people that they should be breaking it with. We trusted them and their mission to the point of queuing up early and putting down money to be placedin a digital queue. 3+ years later, to then ignore that queue is frustrating.

It’s a mixed bag. Sometimes it is right, sometimes it disappears, and reappears, and sometimes never appears. I guess that is why it is hidden. At least it shows something is happening to your account if you have one.
