And my SC said only way to know is to call Tesla tech support. I was at the service center getting a supercharge and 3 employees got together to say "I don't know" :)

You would think it's just a VIN entry and boom! Yes or no!
I really should not complain because it's a FREE! performance upgrade. I think I will check my ego at the door :D and not complain once more :)
Thank you Tesla for making my car better than the day it was new
please explain.....I thought uncorking was two grand......or was it 60=>75 that ws two g's and uncrk is free????

My previous “no” replies were all due, IMO, to the VIN list simply not being accurate. There have been plenty of cars in the US uncorked that were initially rejected. They run a diagnostic test, which looks like this:

the "PT_BMS_ISENSORPROTOCOLNUMBER" has to be greater than 3, in CarLogs.

If the car passes this diagnostic then it can be uncorked. This morning I went to the SC by appointment, and they ran the diagnostic test and then went on to do the performance upgrade, which is software only.

I also subscribed to TefaFi as one way to check the uncork has worked is in the raw data which you can pull from the app - P3 in performance config means corked. P1 means uncorked. Before I even got back in the car I checked TeslaFi and sure enough P1. Then I went for a drive :D:D
I used the executive escalation and got the same technical info you said, key value must be greater than 3. They told me mine was exactly 3 so no dice.

Is what you are implying that they can't know that value remotely? What is your build date and VIN range? I'm sure you already gave that information before so I'm sorry for asking instead of searching for it. I'm just really hoping that there is still hope that some day I can get this for my May 16, 140XXX 75D.

My build date was Dec 16 VIN 171XXX

I may be making 2+2=5 but my SC said the only way they could be sure was to run the diagnostic test when the car was plugged in. I then mentioned the PT BMS etc etc and he looked pretty surprised at me knowing that, he referred to it as battery pack configuration.

I picked it up on here somewhere and it seems the key ‘hardware’ component reference. The full quote I picked up was:

‘If your service center asks you how you knew that you should be eligible after upgrading, you can show them this and let them know it's because Engineering said that the "PT_BMS_ISENSORPROTOCOLNUMBER" has to be greater than 3, and yours is a 5 in CarLogs.’

Whether Engineering can do this remotely, or have the data tucked away somewhere I have no idea, but I suspect if you’ve been specifically told a “3” that may well be the end of the line.

Hope this helps.

Definitely worth getting them to plug the car in when you’re visiting the SC next. I was uncorked today (one of the first in the UK I think) and my SC said it’s a 5 minute job to see if your car is uncorkable.
Just got back from the service center. They ran the diagnostic and determined that it cannot be uncorked because of something in the battery pack. My pack is a 1072923-00-A. Besides being corked my range is way below average at 242 miles rated for 100% with 20k miles. Are these just sucky 75kWh batteries overall? They didn't make very many of them it seems.

That’s a pity! Are you a very early facelift?

Before I took delivery of my new inventory 75D (Aug, 2017 production) a week ago, I called two separate local SCs, provided the vin, and asked wether it’ll be uncorkable. Both times told no. As a last ditch effort, I asked my delivery specialist to check again and if possible to pick it up uncorked. He called me the next day and said the car is in queue at the SC to have the software checked for possible uncork. A few hours later I was told the car was uncorked and ready for pick up!

Aug 2017 production would have the new DU. No need to uncork but either way it will be fast (new DU might be faster due to newer more efficient inverter).

dave..when was your car built?

Just another data point - I emailed thru MyTesla - just a standard service inquiry. Took 9 days for a reply (they apologized), but got these magic words back: "I have looked into your vehicle in our system, and your car is eligible for the 75D performance upgrade. Please reach out t us directly to arrange an in store firmware upgrade at your nearest convenience."

Called to schedule an appointment, and voila - faster Model S!

I was a Nov 2016 order, originally a 60D that I had previously unlocked to 75D this spring (when they dropped the price)

Had mine uncorked today. For the first time ever, I got a Tesla loaner -- a MS100D. I thought "cool this will be like mine will be after uncorking, and it seems FAST." I know it will not be as fast, but I expected close...

It is nothing like the 100D. Honestly I can't tell a difference from what it was before I took it in. I'll drive again tomorrow and see if I feel differently.

You should be able to feel it. It is correlated somewhat with soc. Make sure your soc is over 70% and check with power tools. Mine was not uncorked after the first sc try and I had to go back...

Is over 70% some soft of plateau, where over that the extra power is marginal?

I had 330kW at 50% ish (well up on precorked 280kW so very happy) but wondering how much more might be in there?
