Minor clarification... e-coating is not electrostatic like powder coating. There are no high voltages (like 6-10kV for powder) involved. It is more like anodizing or plating. Fairly high currents in the rectifiers for e-coating (all DC) unlike powder application where those power supplies are...

Volume is way down, less than half of normal. Does not appear like there was any meaningful short pushes. The stock is a bargain. People are buying it up in the face of a down market. My uneducated guess

MB's engineering team is one of the best in the world. Unfortunately for them, the product management team is guiding what they do. And Zetsche is who guides product management. Have been picking up shares at dips on the way down, to help make up for when I bought at $350. Looking at my average price going down makes me feel warm :) especially when the long future is bright! I recently got a boatload (well, a really big container ship load) at $285 and if it goes down...

A whole lotta CAPEX is needed for those sorts of numbers. Takes expensive factories (and expensive IP) to make the best transportation. But that's one of the reasons I like TSLA, and why I will always be one of the longs... they invest in the type of infrastructure that I believe in!
