Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Made a few calls for insurance quotes today, and not sure what to say re the correct model for P3-. They have Performance, or LR AWD. If I read out the invoice that says LR AWD Performance, they want to use the LR AWD option. The P- is really closer to the LW AWD than to the P+ which is currently the only performance model available, but it seems a bit of a mess.

What a great start to the weekend. Had a call this arvo from a Sydney delivery specialist! He is sending our invoice through on Monday.
Red SR+ black interior
Transportation to home address in Canberra
Tentative delivery time noon on Monday 23 Sept
Reserved 23.5.2019
Ordered 6.6.2019
Have hidden VIN 4429XX
Actual delivery date will be confirmed a week before the delivery
Canberra cars will arrive without number plates and registration (Meowsers mentioned this in an earlier post) as Sydney office unable to organise their end. This is done through Access Canberra either anytime after Payment completed or after arrival of vehicle. Latter doesn’t seem a great option - can’t see us sitting and looking at the car in the garage instead of taking it for a spin lol

Has anybody had a VIN issued before finance has been approved (in this case Pepper/Macquarie)? Have only just ordered here but given the unpredictability at the way that deliveries are happening I'm just wondering what's mandatory before people are seeing VIN's (hidden or not) show up.

Not every invoice is a car. My first invoice had an error in the amount financed v deposit. When they reissued with the corrected details I got a new invoice number. Two invoices for one car.

I am aware of this. Over 1000 invoices (au) (and 300 nz) still translates to a big number of cars. A guy on FB is quoting a reliable source saying 911 cars arrived in August (s/x/3). (Not sure if just au). This does line up with what I am seeing in the data. Definitely plausible. And ANL Warrnambool on Sunday night also has a big number on it.

I am glad Tesla increased the delivery team size x 5. And they are still being slammed - A whole year of 2017 au sales numbers in about 5 ships (au/nz)

Hidden (reappearing) VIN 4887XX NZ

Emailed Tesla delivery today to ask if I was likely to take delivery of my P3- in September. The reply was encouraging ...

"I would say most likely. Your vehicle is expected to arrive at the ports mid-September. We are expecting a huge amount so it does depend when in the order it is unloaded and then processed by our service team. We will be reaching out to customers on this vessel shortly to confirm Tesla account details and run you through the final steps. Not long to go now. Will talk soon."

So assuming my disappearing/reappearing VIN is correct and looking at TeslaCarriers TeslaCarriersAU-NZ the ship with 4887XX VIN series is the Melina due in Auckland on 16 September.

@Vedaprime does this compute?

100% correct. I didn’t have a vin breakdown for Merkur (too close to ANL W), but the timing is perfect.

I have been thinking, we all now have posted info on orders, have seen a real invoice and bank details etc, it would be somewhat trivial for a scammer to lookup usernames and get emails (from other hacked sites if anyone shares a username.)

If you receive an invoice please check where it came from etc. Tesla doesn't use DKIM on their emails, has no enforcing dmarc but does have SPF.

We know that the BSB for AU are all the same, can someone post the BSB so we can cross check to ensure its the same ?

for someone to fake an email/invoice with fake bank details and easily get transferred 100k from a keen mode 3 buyer wouldn't be that difficult. I have seen similar things many times in my day job.

Just a PSA, please be really careful and double check before paying that its really a tesla invoice in the email. I assume it will show up on the account page soon anyway so we could verify it ?
I had the same concerns.

I have had no luck getting through to sales on the phone.

The idea of emailing them to check if I had been the victim of a man-in-the-middle attack seemed a little oxymoronic.

I did have luck by ringing my delivery centre direct. They confirmed their BSB number. The account number is your reservation number, so you can check that yourself.

They were pretty cool about me calling.

Got the call from Tesla today.
Delivery date 24 Sept 2019 at Alexandria (Sydney)
Midnight Silver, P3+, Black. No FSD.
VIN: 443xxx
Reserved: May 2018
Ordered: 1 June 2019
Did not email or contact Tesla outside of website processes.

Apologies if you have the same spec but an earlier reserve date and not got a delivery date yet.

Invoice arrived.
Can confirm the hidden VIN 443xxx is same.
Compliance and build date: 24/07/2019

Hey, don’t post Tesla’s bank details publicly, people might... send them money!
