Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Why?
I agree with this 100%. Yes the situation can be and currently is frustrating for a lot of people, but he hasn’t said anything that isn’t true. There are A LOT of people crying and carrying on on here and on FB.
Well that settles it then. Any criticism of Tesla's performance is officially wrong or misguided or irrational or something that shouldn't be vocalised.

Can people who have paid for their cars please check their source code for me? I paid mine in full via bank transfer and have the following in source code-

"amountDueAtDeliveryVal":89.55,"amountDueAtDelivery":"$89.55","currentAmountDueAtDelivery":89.55,"salesTax":"$89.55"

I’ve triple checked I paid the correct amount as per invoice.
I have ‘delivery paranoia’ that they will delay my delivery because it will appear I haven’t paid in full!

I have a similar small balance showing in the source code. As best I can tell, this is due to a slight change in rego costs in Adelaide, between the Order and the Final Invoice. With delivery scheduled for 11am tomorrow, I am going to know soon enough if there is any issue re balance due. I’ve had several contacts from the Delivery people since last Friday, 2 days after I paid the balance of the Final Invoice, so I am pretty confident there is no further balance due - or they would have said so.

One more sleep to go ...

No, i questioned why he reported someone for complaining about people complaining.
I personally find some of the whinging enjoyable, but if someone else is sick of seeing it then doesn’t that person have the right to that opinion without being reported?

Has anyone seen any confirmation on where the E-tag should be put on a model 3? The US manual says it should be on the right hand side of the mirror so it minimises blocking the drivers view, which would imply that in our market, it goes on the left side of the mirror, but not sure. It doesnt seem to beep when on the dashboard, so I am thinking it needs to be in a specific spot.
Call the toll company and tell them your have a metalized window screen. They will switch your account to free video matching. No tag needed.
That’s what I did. I’m in Brisbane

I have had VWs for 19 years apart from one year with a Mazda SP25. In 2011. Never again for Mazda. Locked out of it 4 times. Electrical issues that they could not resolve. Had it 12 months. Took a bath and back to VW. Have had one power window failure in original Bora (fixed under warranty) and the infamous gearbox/clutch issue in Golf about 3 1/2 years ago - 18 months out of warranty but fully (as it should be) fixed/covered without argument. Yep, 2 issue in 18 years of ownership. That'll do me.

A quick Google:

Subaru - Mileage scam 2017/8
Toyota - misleading Safety claims 2010-14
Nissan Emission scandal 2018
Mercedes, BMW - Emissions falsely measured . 2017
Tesla - well, Musk - sued by SEC for, shock/horror, falsely saying he's taking Tesla Public. Completely made up. 2018-19
Ford/Honda/Mazda - Diesel Emissions misleading readings 2014-2015

No-one is squeaky clean, they ARE ALL businesses after all. But no-one really can claim a moral high ground.

And I am STILL interested in the M3 Tesla AND the VW ID3. But the quality of the M3's being delivered seems pretty damn oridinary for a >$70k car. Can people really argue that? Really?
Ask the same question after you've had it 4 years (after any "other" car has fallen to bits).

Thanks and you too, were you meant to get it today?

Nope, minor miscommunication regarding invoice between Tesla and Pepper means mine may get delayed - but it's good to reflect on all the other things in life that do go well rather than focus on what didn't. There are always other people in worse situations than ourselves and so I am thankful for even being in the position to have to wait. :)

Interesting catching up with this thread after coming home from work.

I note a few people had some interesting sales order information in their source code wrt small amounts still to pay. i have this as well.

However, what I'm finding a bit strange is that the source code reflects the $3,000 deposit (I don't have a reservation), and the two payments I made on Monday for towards the car, with the balance payable by Pepper. It has all of the relevant details associated with my application - how much they are paying towards the car, length of the term and applicable interest rate.

I'm actually a bit dumbfounded because I haven't signed a single document besides a Privacy Consent form for Pepper. Haven't even seen my contract yet, and it's getting delivered in less than a week.

Personally my minimal interactions with Tesla have been perfectly fine and it's Pepper that I've had to chase and chase. I was told on 2 September that they'd send out the contract 'this week'; that didn't happen so I asked again a week later, and they said closer to delivery. I asked again on Monday evening and was told I'd get it today...and nothing...

Flying reindeer, I can't check my source for exact details anymore (can't remember the trick either) as account page has changed to delivered status and just lists warranty and basic stuff now. However, prior to delivery I had previously emailed Tesla to check whether they received payment as I hadn't heard for 2 weeks after payment and within an hour they confirmed receipt of full payment. I checked the source code when whoever posted that trick about a week later and I saw all sorts of weird stuff like you are seeing. If you paid what was on the invoice you are sorted. For sure you won't get to T-1 day without correct payment so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Enjoy tomorrow. For those those bores that are saying there is no excitement after so long a wait, I beg to differ..our household have been building on excitement on excitement over this time period with the last few days being nuts. One daughter is still in the car in the garage on day 2 doing her "homework".

Oh ffs you are probably right.
Actually there is a monty python sketch that comes to mind. Why are you arguing if I didn't pay?

I didn't get my Tesla today, but I did still had a nice day. Hope you guys did too.

Mine started off badly with the insurance company who quoted a few weeks ago now saying they won't insure it, but got better when my delivery date got brought forward from the 26th to the 23rd which is exciting. And got insurance with someone else ok in the end, which means my finance paid out ready for the 23rd. Between that and organising a shed (partly to put the car in) I didn't get a whole lot of work done!

Tesla is already public. The false claim was that he was going to take it private at $420/share.

I'm not defending Elon (frankly I'd be happy if he left Tesla to its own devices and focused his time on SpaceX and TBC), but if you discount the fact that he's eccentric, careless, and kind of a jerk sometimes, have there been any scandals involving Tesla as a company? Things like the VW emissions-testing fraud required a lot more than one loose-cannon CEO to take place.

What an eventful day ...

We took delivery of our Black SR+ at Richmond this morning (after a 1-day delay). There were 5 M3s (all SR+) in the delivery centre incl. ours. The handover lasted 30mins. Although we weren't rushed, we got the feeling that 30mins was the limit from the signals the other delivery specialists were giving ours . It wouldn't have taken much longer anyway---our (very nice) lady DS appeared to have received training in very basic M3 functionality and was going thru a scripted intro to the car, any curly questions (e.g., on supercharger billing, referral kms, fog lights, etc.) got her stumped and she'd have to ask a colleague. In the end, I decided that I was getting nowhere fast and decided the faster we get thru the handover process the quicker we'd be on the road to enjoy our new toy :).

A physical inspection of the car revealed 3 very small marks on the left rear of the car below the charge port. We both took photos and the DS took notes and said the Service Centre will organise a follow up to touch up the marks. Other than that, our SR+ looked great! And btw, the software version is the latest v9.0 2019.32.2.2.

Before leaving, I asked about accessories and was told they would be available from the Chadstone showroom. When we got to Chadstone, they were surprised I was told that---in fact, they can be bought from the Richmond Service Centre o_O. The Chaddy guy was apologetic about me getting the run around; it appears that the delivery teams aren't communicating with the servicing team. He also said that M3 accessories aren't available yet and asked me to call the SC in a week or two before turning up.

I drove around after leaving Chaddy to get a feel of the car and wanted to test AP when an brake warning icon appeared on the screen followed by a "brake fluid low" warning . The No Traction icon then appeared with "ABS disabled" and "No traction control" warnings. We barely drove 15kms in our brand new car ... WTF?!?

I stopped in a service lane and called Tesla Roadside Assist. After 6mins on-hold, I was talking to a very nice chap who tried to diagnose the root cause---he said he'd look at the logs, etc. ... it sounded like he was remotely accessing our M3 system. He talked me thru a typical Windows fix (system restart) but the icons and warnings remained. The only solution was to return my car to the Richmond SC; he could send a tow truck (45-90mins waiting time) or I could slowly drive back to Richmond. As time wasn't on our side then, I decided on the latter and drove on the Monash Fwy back to Richmond. Monash Fwy because there were no traffic lights to stop at, and I was getting used to the regen bracking prior to our troubles. I probably used the brakes 3 times (yes brakes still worked) before reaching the SC. BTW, cruise control doesn't work when you have these host of warnings :(.

The SC technician ascertained that the low brake fluid was the root cause of the problems. A very apologetic SC lady said that could happened after a long voyage on the seas. I was in no mood to argue---I'm just glad that the resolution was quick and easy and we would be on our way again.

While waiting in the owners' lounge, I caught up with our lady DS and asked how many M3s would be delivered today. She said 15, and tomorrow will be 18. All the M3s have custom plates "BCZ" followed by 3 digits (if no personal custom plates). I was wondering why/what "BCZ" was---my wife said maybe it stands for "Be Cra-Zee". She could be right :).

In spite of our eventful day, I have to admit the brake fluid problem didn't deterred us in any way in our appreciation and enthusiasm for our M3. I'm still getting my head around setting our phones as keys, why the car locks when we walked away but not unlock when we approached, etc. I'm sure I'll figure it all out in due course. I also started installing the accessories I'd bought ... that is a write-up for another time.

For everyone who are still waiting for your M3 ... be patient ... I can guarantee it's worth the wait :)!!!
