I think they changed how referrals are counted... perhaps waiting until the order confirms before counting it.

Even if Tesla got 10 cancellations, that would be at least $25K in fees. A powerwall or something still makes sense.

Tesla makes about $20K per car in profit. With a cancellation, they pocket most of the deposit. They obviously don't make as much money, but it isn't the fault of the referrer the deal didn't complete.

If your friend's son's birthday is "coming up" in the next six (or even nine) months, you almost certainly wouldn't have the radio flyer to give him in time for this birthday. Everyone has been posting about long delays in receiving their referral awards.

Tangible rewards take at least 3 months as you only qualify once all buyers take delivery. In some cases, the buyer can push out delivery a couple times. I have seen 10 months to delivery if you push a couple times.

As a practical matter, rewards have been taking 5 months to over a year depending on the prize. I think six to nine months is a good estimate @Andyw2100 for the radio flyer.
