Theory - Cadillac Fairview and Tesla partner for SC sites?

Given that Tesla on Lawrence is just down the road from Don Mills, don't expect it too soon.

Rumor has it that the Superchargers at Lawrence are coming out once something new is installed "nearby". They will probably follow the Oakville model and keep 1 or 2 in the service bays for testing.

Which one? There are 3 that I know of: Fairview Mall, Fairview Pointe-Claire and the company itself but I presume that you're talking about the Fairview in Toronto.

Fairview Toronto. It's close to 401, DVP and the 407.

At least in terms of space for putting in the SCs, yes. I've only gone to Don Mills once since the renovations and I don't think there's a good area for it, unless they put it into the parking garage somewhere.

The rumoured Yonge & Sheppard supercharger may be a good Lawrence replacement, close the the 401. Unless they decide to make it an urban charger to support all of the condo dwellers in the neighbourhood.

Speaking of Loblaws I wonder if they are more in tune to the Supercharger situation now that they are ordering Semis. We may end up seeing SC stations at Loblaws facilities going forward.

Lawrence was a "quick and dirty" site for Tesla since they already owned the property. It was widely recognized as a far from ideal location in the first place. I don't think a replacement needs to be close, but rather strategically placed on or near highly traveled routes.

I'm aware of that. Even by this logic the Markville Mall location still doesn't qualify.

Possibly but that is years away and the charging spots needed by the semis will likely be by the unloading docks which won't be convenient for SuperChargers for Loblaws customers as they are normally in the back of the store.

I don't think Markville Mall is a replacement for Lawrence. A replacement for Lawrence would/should be easily accessible from the 401 for travelers just like Markville is relatively close to the 407.

Given how tight the financials and the competition for grocery chains, I cannot see Loblaws providing funding or space for Tesla chargers. Besides, once the new Ontario wage hike takes effect, it'll be even harder to justify the expense when they're probably going to do a round of firing (which they indicated would happen).

LOL!! I know you didn't mean it this way, but I find the irony of 20 km now considered "nowhere near" to be hilarious!

Recall, Ontario had a few supercharging locations hundreds of km apart only a few months ago.

I love that Tesla is changing the goal posts!

Let's see in a few years if we see someone say 5 km is too far to drive to supercharge!
