The next big milestone for FSD is 11. It is a significant upgrade and fundamental changes to several parts of the FSD stack including totally new way to train the perception NN.

From AI day and Lex Fridman interview we have a good sense of what might be included.

- Object permanence both temporal and spatial
- Moving from “bag of points” to objects in NN
- Creating a 3D vector representation of the environment all in NN
- Planner optimization using NN / Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS)
- Change from processed images to “photon count” / raw image
- Change from single image perception to surround video
- Merging of city, highway and parking lot stacks a.k.a. Single Stack

Lex Fridman Interview of Elon. Starting with FSD related topics.

Here is a detailed explanation of Beta 11 in "layman's language" by James Douma, interview done after Lex Podcast.

Here is the AI Day explanation by in 4 parts.

Here is a useful blog post asking a few questions to Tesla about AI day. The useful part comes in comparison of Tesla's methods with Waymo and others (detailed papers linked).

I have had some time on 11.4.7 and honestly, it pretty much feels the same on the rural roads that I drive every day. It still barrels towards stop signs only to slam on the brakes when it sees the actual sign (2x every day), it still does some truly scary unprotected left turns (anytime the steering wheel starts turning back and forth, I immediately disable FSD), and it has one new “characteristic” that I hate:

It now takes off like a 90 year old blind woman on sleeping medications.

It is so slow when it accelerates now that I am always finding myself applying the accelerator. I changed FSD driving modes from average to aggressive and then back just to make certain that some software switch did not get mucked up during the install. No difference. I kept it on aggressive… no difference. This new “feature” is annoying as all get out.

I cannot wait to hear from @fasteddie7, who also has HW4 (not sure if he is on 11.4.7 yet) to see if he has the update and whether or not he is seeing this new “feature”.

11.4.7 is thus far, worse than 11.4.4 in my limited opinion. Remember, I drive almost exclusively on rural high speed roads and in very small towns, so 11.4.7 may be a wonderful upgrade in other areas… just not for me.

Unreal, but not at all surprising. After-all, it was touted as, “mind-blowing”. Junk 26.0

It applies the brakes well after the cross traffic has cleared the road, and when I hit the accelerator to stop its stupid behavior, it screams at me because it thinks I am going to hit the other car.
Sounds like a bit of a lover's quarrel. You realize its little feelings may still be hurt over that flat tire incident. Some sweet talk might help........these new AIs have feelings you know........

Ugh. By any chance, was there any rain in your drive. For several releases now, I think I've seen some sort of mode change in which detected rain at some level would trigger a distinct drastic lowering of acceleration, which would remain in effect for the rest of the drive.

While I do wish it would reduce acclerations in all dimensions (accel, decel, turning) in slippery conditions (especially ice and snow) the thing I've detected seemed pretty stupid.

Oh my gosh… you are right! I will go out and buy her some wine and flowers tomorrow.

Good, and don't be glancing at other vehicles now.........

No rain at all, no wet road, no fog, no sunshine on her shoulders making her happy (this last bit is the recognition that my car may be sensitive due to a recent flat tire).

Well here is something new. I own a couple of businesses.
1 of them I never registered with Google maps.
Therefore, if I searched for it by name nothing.
3 days ago I added it to Google maps. It's free btw.
Well guess what... after 3 days on Google maps that business is now searchable by name. How in the hell could I not get a map update and my new location show up?
I think something is definitely going on with mapping, like little updates between major ones. There is no other explanation.
If you don't believe me, try it if you have a business you didn't register on Google maps.

That would make me nuts too. Especially in accelerating when first at a stop light I wish 11.4.4 would accelerate much more quickly than it does now. I can understand running parallel traffic through the intersection but not past. We've seen it capable of better too, like making a right turn relatively close to oncoming traffic - I'd like that kick virtually every time traffic permitting.

Sounds like a release to skip. Other than someone mentioning a couple of fixed turns, I'm not hearing anything positive about this release yet.

Because search goes offboard to google?
