Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Since I know a bunch of us are taking delivery soon, I put together this consolidated list of all issues to look out for at delivery - hope this helps everyone who's waiting for their new baby!

For those of you who already took delivery, please feel free to contribute if anything appears to be missing. Thanks!

yup, that's one of my configs. I did get a EDD of Oct 4-24 for my S LR January ,2021 "order" But I think I am going to wait for the Plaid...
Sounds like we’re in similar shape. I got a EDD of oct-nov for my (same) LR config from January.
Still though was thinking I might just take the LR if it is done first without a solid date for the Plaid. Seems to have very favorable reviews from those that have it, and an extra 40K in my pocket wouldn’t be bad.

still though I’d take the Plaid if it comes first. Gahhhhh

No BS. Ordered my MS plaid on Monday. March Delivery date. Just got a text and a call. Somebody didn’t want the one they ordered. I’m picking it up in Costa Mesa tomorrow. 3 day delivery. Hahahaha
This type of situation is confusing. Why wouldn’t Tesla reach out to folks with the same configuration who placed the order months ago ?
Congrats!! You did nothing wrong by accepting the car. I would have too 🌝

Because people that ordered months ago are locked into a $10k less profitable price than orders in the last few weeks.

Because he ordered at the new price, 10k more than the people with older orders.

I'm personally not a huge believer of checklists but I'm happy you wrote this up so I can keep the worst offenders in the back of my mind for delivery day.

Edit: That's quite the extensive list... I hope people don't refuse delivery over some of these.

Last Estimated Delivery: August 25 - September 14 (two days ago)

Updated today Aug 11 Estimated Delivery:August 13 - August 31

Wife is worse than an addict looking for crack cocaine fix. She checks MULTIPLE times a day. Got it bad!

Of course I'm cool calm and collective. Not a big deal to me. The fact they can't get their stuff together and ship out cars in a #$%^&ing timely manner doesn't bother me in the @#%^& least. Because it's just not that big a #$%^ing thing to me.

I can wait.

19" red Plaid.

Same exact config? You''ll likely get VINs for both at the same time or within a couple days of each other. No offense but wouldn't have been a better "test" if you had at least changed something for your 8/8/21 order? Seems a little silly since we ALL know VIN assignments and deliveries aren't based on based on order date; it's more about configuration and their planned "runs" of whatever color & options.
No offense taken. My test was not to check whether some configurations get deliveries sooner than others (e.g. 21" wheels vs 19", or black vs white interior), since we know that to be the case.

My $100 casino-style gamble was simply to validate or disprove whether Tesla is intentionally prioritizing IDENTICAL configs to those that are priced $10k or more higher. Call it a poker bluff, basically.

So far, my gamble hasn't paid off, as the EDDs are near-identical. But I was willing to pay $100 to demonstrate (albeit with one single example) whether Tesla is being malicious or not, that's it.

I got a call today to come check out a Plaid that was being rejected. I got to spend quite a bit of time with the car. I posted more info and pics in the delivery issues thread:

It turns out that the VIN of the rejected car was only 25 away from my VIN which is now in transit for delivery in a few days. I'll be watching for the same issues.

It is a 4319xx VIN.

Interesting that the car has Pirelli PZ4 summer tires, my EDD is December, it better have all seasons.
Great tires for the 19s!
I asked my SA about this a few weeks ago and he assured me my 19” would be AS. Picking up in Devon. He’s been pretty straight up w me through this process.
This was discussed quite a bit a few weeks ago. The 19s are not PZ4s, I thought the same at first. The 19s are Pirelli PZero ‘Elect’ All Season tires made specifically for Tesla. The Taycan has a version of the same PZero Elect tires.

Does getting a VIN correlate with the delivery date? Yesterday EDD was August 24-31 and no VIN. Today EDD is February and there is a VIN. I did have them change my address (moving 20 miles to new home in couple weeks) so hoping that’s not the reason why it changed to February…

I ran mine last weekend myself! 70’ of 4/3 wire, 60a breaker, about $300 in materials with a disconnect switch in the garage. Just put the wall connector up! Now to keep waiting for my car…
I just did my subpanel to the garage ... $350. Prob soon will run the wiring to the charger, have the 4/3 armored at work and will not cost anything ... DIY is the way to go for sure!
It'll go between the two garage doors.
