Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I very much plan to pay on the day, after I see my car. Especially after hearing all the horror stories from the US.
Good luck with that. I think you’ll be viewing, transferring funds, then departing the next day when funds have cleared.
Tesla Australia are very good people to deal with. My model S got a damaged wheel during tesla’s arranged transit to adelaide. It was discovered 5 minutes before I arrived and had already paid. The wheel was replaced without hesitation a week later.

My Model S has what looks like a little crease on the front door hand area in the panel and when I bought it up the day after I drove home got told I must have gotten a door ding. Months later I saw that a lot of other Model S’s has the same issue (my car is quite an early Model S so not lots of other cars to compare to at the SC like you get these days).

So was/is a manufacturing fault, got no response from Tesla to address this, gave up in the end. What I mostly hate was being told, by the service manager in Melbourne at the time (whom is now Sydney based) that I got a dent when in fact it was a fault from factory. On top of this, and because I made quite a noise at the time, I got feedback from other staff (whom I won’t name) that this particular SC manager and another staff member (agin now Sydney based) paid me out with very nasty comments....

So, whilst I believe in general Tesla staff are a great bunch and Tesla is a great company it DOES pay to look over your car with a fine tooth comb before you drive out....take out in to real sun light with your delivery specialist as you’ll miss issues if you don’t. We did this recently with my wife’s Model X and found many issues, was good to point out when picked up rather than having to experience what I went through....

I got to see my inventory Model S before they detailed it (it had to be trucked from Sydney up to Brisbane) and before I paid up. There were a couple of issues which they pointed out to me quite happily. All bar one (a tiny ding behind the rear door) were polished out. I was very happy with both the car and the candidness of the service/prep guys. Recently they did the Takata airbag recall, and did a service check on computer, batteries etc, for free. I have heard nothing but good things about the Brisbane SC.

Thoughts guys on the Queensland electric highway and sr model 3. I plan on picking up in Brisbane and driving home via the electric highway. Its 50kw I believe. My question is about how long a stop will i have every about every 200km. They are spaced about 200km apart and with about 380km range I need to stop at everyone .

Select the vehicle and set to metric to get a good idea of charge time. I'm not sure if the electric highway chargers are on there or not but will still give you an idea of charge times.

Also, get yourself a type 2 charge lead so you have a three phase backup charge option in case any of the tritium units are out of order.
Check plugshare for any tricky gaps so you have a backup plan.

If you get a reasonably early model 3 I would say your planned 40 minute stops every 200kms are going to end up being 2 hour stops combined with endless questions from interested members of the public. Don't forget plug in and check its charging before engaging in a conversation.

Seriously though, your charge times will be considerably shorter than an S/X on a 50 kW charger. Model 3 is more efficient and has a smaller battery.

Here's a model 3 performance charging on a supercharger at just under 50 kW (due to cold) and it's getting 300 km/h charge speed. SR+ efficiency will be a little better than that so working on 300km/h will be a good guide for charge times.

Where should I get the three phase adaptor

Where should I get the three phase adaptor
Assuming the Model # UMC (Universal Mobile Connector) will be the same as supplied by Tesla for the Model S and X you can order the 3 phase adapter and cables from a couple of places. JetCharge or EVSE.
I bought the kit for my UMC that includes the Tesla Euro 3 Phase adapter and the 32A and 20A tails from JetCharge and that allowed me to charge along the Stuart Highway last year at 16A 3 phase that added 60Km/h to my Model S.

I believe the M3 UMC is different; certainly the CHAdeMO adaptor is different.

Where should I get the three phase adaptor

I was referring to a type 2 to type 2 lead, as the electric highway has three phase socket type chargers as a backup.
For a three phase adaptor, you'd want to look in to something like a juice booster 2 I think, although unless you're going really bush I doubt you'd get the value from it. The tails from the S/X are not compatible as far as I'm aware.

Does a chademo adapter even exist for model 3?

Nope, it does not. Not even in USA.
