Door handle replacement - 2013 MS

So, my 2013 MS driver's side door handle finally gave up the ghost. As you can see in the photo, it is misaligned and hanging up on the rear part of the opening. I guess my options are replace it myself or pay Tesla to do it. How hard is it to replace? Do I want to (can I?) use Gen 3...

    Cancelled our 90D

We placed an order for an X 90D 6 seater 2 days before Elon's P100D announcement. We asked if a 100D could be made available and were told no. After mulling it over, we cancelled today because I really don't want yesterday's battery. I've owned a P85 MS for 3+ years and watched as the batteries...

Cave B. EV friendly resort in Quincy.

Stayed there this weekend. Really nice resort, great restaurant, winery with tasting and they have 2 HPWCs and a Clipper Creek j1772 charger. Would recommend it to anyone. What a difference from a year ago where they only had complete disinterest in EVs.

    NEMA 6-50 adapter "engineering"

Yes, I know that Tesla doesn't have this adapter for sale any more. I recently got my mother in law to let me install a 240 outlet for my car. She's a nice little old lady who probably uses about 1KW a week in her house. So, I went out to the panel and was taking pictures to send to an...

Slacker coma after an AT&T dead zone.

This may be a new problem with firmware 5.12 but I thought to post it here since the 5.12 thread is getting pretty long. Basically this happens when you select something to play in slacker when there is no connectivity. The symptom is that slacker just sits there doing nothing - no spinning...

Road trip: Seattle to southern Oregon

Last weekend, my wife and I drove from North Seattle to Jacksonville, OR and back. With side trips, it was just a touch under 1000 miles. 8 supercharger stops, 2 Black Bear breakfasts (get the Volcano for a gut buster!), no issues with the car and one very stupid conversation with a...

    Eastern WA fires

The news is pretty dire about the fires. I hope everyone over there is safe. I see reports of Pateros basically burning down. Did the resort with the HAL2 get hit? I've also seen reports of the Methow power lines getting torched. Are Mazama, Winthrop and Twisp powerless? This is an...

    Strange error

Driving home tonight I had a couple of strange errors. I had been driving for about 3 minutes and everything seemed normal when slacker stopped playing and gave a "no connectivity error". At the same time the speedometer dropped to 8 MPH (I was going at least 30) and stayed there no matter...

    slacker in 5.9

So, I got 5.9 about a week ago (that usually means the next version is due imminently...) and slacker has different behavior. While the stuttering appears to be gone, it seems to be replaced with "I give up, next song". I live in an area that has ok AT&T coverage 2 and 3 bars according to the...

    Medford area charging?

I will be staying near Medford for a few days this July and am looking at charging options. I know I could use the Grants Pass SC (and will) but it's more than an hour round trip. I am pretty sure I'll be running to the airport multiple times and giving a number of demo rides so am looking for...

    slacker crash today

So, I'm driving down the road listening to slacker and it stops mid-song. I look at the console and it shows an error message - "can't access server" or some such. The time was 12:37 PDT. I back out of slacker and go into it again only to get the same message. Third time it comes back but...

    Mobile Superchargers

So it appears that several of the new SCs are of the "Mobile" variety. Anyone have more info? Are these 135KW chargers? Didn't see a thread on this. Frankly, it looks to me like a better term is "prefabricated". They appear to be designed to drop in place and get hooked up to power. A...

Any one bothered by the windshield wiper control?

It bothers me that there is no way to see the state of your WSW setting without looking at it and that is hard because it is hidden behind the steering wheel. I would be happy with little bumps that allow you feel it's location. I find myself turning the wipers off and then back on to make...

    turn signal level squishiness

I don't know if this is just mine or a general thing but when I manually cancel a turn signal, a lot of times (maybe 50%) there won't be a click as I move the lever to the center. This causes me to wind up signaling the opposite turn as I keep going until it clicks. The lever should always...

    Strange Homelink Problem

I ran into a weird homelink problem. Homelink from the Model S has been working fine for me since June of last year. Theother day I put an LED light bulb (Cree band) in my Genie opener. When the light bulb is off, homelink in the car causes the door to operate. When the light bulb is on...

This has happened a number of times to me. I think it's related to the 5.8.4 upgrade but have no proof other than it never happened prior to the upgrade. When it happens, the driver's display will come up within 2-3 seconds but the center console will remain black for around 25 seconds (I've...

    Recargo drops recargo?

Recargo and plug-share merged a while ago and I was hoping that we would get the best of both in a newly merged EVSE search product. Well, it seems that the merged entity (Recargo) has simply dropped the old recargo database and is pointing people to the plug-share map/database as-is...

WSJ article on EV subsidies as a drag on the California economy.

A Green Car Named Desire. It very much singles out Tesla but lays the blame at the feet of CA lawmakers. I have to say that I agree somewhat with the article. The Model S is good enough to stand on it's own. I can't blame Tesla or Tesla owners for taking advantage of the tax credits and...
